Theme Of V For Vendetta
In the graphic comic V for Vendetta , V is a masked anarchist fighting for justice by
attacking the government and the people who have done him wrong in the past. He
lures the fascist party out of the shadows and encourages citizens to take charge and
change their way of life. This novel reveals many controversial themes: anarchy,
revenge, power of symbols and freedom, the factors that make up a great comic. The
sources I found were very reliable and easy to understand although it did take me
awhile to find them. After two days of looking for sources I found one that provided a
summary of the comic, quotes, themes and character analysis. I read the comic on a
website which had a variety of many others. It was very helpful but I needed more
information and a better understanding of the story so I came across litcharts.com. It
was basically the only website I used to get all the information for my essay. After an
hour of researching I decided to write my paper over the themes of V for Vendetta,
which were plenty enough to write a five page essay. Litcharts gave me quotes from
each theme found in the comic and the page number. Although I am only using two
sources I am confident of the information I have gathered for this essay. V for Vendetta
takes place in England, mid 1990s and illustrates flashbacks to the 1980s. The
government is taking over life for the citizens and things are not going to change. A radio
station is broadcasting nonstop with one voice the people can

Westward Expansion and the Effects

On the United States

October 3, 2007

Abstract
The Louisiana Purchase was the largest land deal in our history. It doubled the size of
the United States and gave us a strong face as an economic power. It brought
immigrants from all over the world for the idea of owning land and making a living for
themselves. We also had a second expansion with the Adams Onis treaty in 1819
(Davidson, 2002, p.p. 246 247) where we clearly defined the United States and Spanish
board to the Pacific and obtained the Florida territory. This gave the United State a firm
foothold and clearly defined boarders for the first time in our history.

This would have put and extreme economic strain on the import and export of goods
from the United States especially on behalf of the southern states which counted on the
Mississippi River for transportation of goods.
Napoleon Bonaparte was expecting to use his foothold in the United States in
conjunction with the territory of Hispaniola as an expansion of the French Empire. He
lost the island of Haiti during a slave revolt which stopped his plans to expand. Without
the supplies and port of Haiti the Louisiana Territory was useless to him. He was also
still involved in war with England and needed additional finances for that battle. In order
to obtain additional funds for his war he made the decision to sell the Louisiana Territory
to the United States.
Thomas Jefferson was the President at the time and knew the implications of not
having the rights to ship through the Mississippi and the port of New Orleans. Prior to
Bonaparte sending his minister to the United States Jefferson had already sent Robert
Livingston to offer to purchase the New Orleans at a minimum. Bonaparte not only
offered New Orleans but the entire Louisiana Territory. The treat and sale to the United
States was finalized in April of 1803 for approximately $15 million dollars. This is
recognized as the largest land purchase in United States history. It is also a major
accomplishment as it was completed without the loss of life through a war.

Brexit Disadvantages
UK farmers have resented several articles of 1107/2009, desiring a more risk based
approach that is science led, similar to the one carried out by the US Environmental
Protection Agency, where more actives and products would be available through a
faster and more pragmatic process. Nick von Westernholz, CEO of the Crop Protection
Association (CPA), believes that Brexit is the golden opportunity to enforce pesticides
regulations that support UK farmers and allow them to trade on a global scale.
Furthermore, Dr. Colin Ruscoe, President of the British Crop Protection Council
(BCPC) expresses his faith in Brexit as being the UK s time to take back control
(Loughlin, 2016). Farmers and the pesticideindustry believe that the current hazard based
approach is too stringent, placing the EU in a position of being economically unattractive
in respect of the development of new active substances and new plant protection products
(Chapman, 2014).

As a result, safer alternatives are emerging while many active substances are being
revoked with the ban on neonicotinoids being the most significant. This represents a
severe obstacle to European farmers and will endanger their ability to produce the
variety of plant produce to which consumers have become adapted (Chapman, 2014).
Simultaneously, the reduction in plant production products generates a major risk to
UK trade and competitiveness, with the NFU manifesting its concerns over UK crop
production flatlining (House of Commons Library, 2016) and to food security. On the
other hand, it could also be contended that a closer affiliation to US legislation could
suspend UK trade with the EU as they would no longer conform to their strict
regulations (Baker and Knight, 2017). Thus, abolishing would offend NGOs or
international trading partners within the EU as the EU represents 60% of UK agri food
exports (Pesticide Action Network UK, 2017).

Modify

The UK has, at no time, implemented a policy intended to reduce the utilization of

pesticides in the agricultural sector. Instead, under 1107/2009, the principles of
acceptable risk have been ratified, focusing on mitigating the potential destruction of
pesticides by setting restrictions on the methods of application (PAN UK,
