8th Amendment Pros And Cons
The Eighth Amendment is a wonderful thing,
No cruel and unusual punishment, (written to spite Britain s king)
But where does the amendment stand in the world today?
Proud and strong, or thrown in the hay?
To answer this we can t just look at one place,
But first to the world, and then the United States,

We should be thankful for an amendment that prevents us the harm,

Done in other nations to the unarmed,
China punishes religious groups with torture,
And Saudi Arabia s human rights record is a real scorcher,
Russia s prisons are in horrible shape,
While women in Serbian prisons formerly faced rape,
Though the Taliban s human rights problems may be under fire,
Myanmar and Albania s violations are still quite dire,

But in the process of citing

Social Justice Theory
With these methodologies powerful stories emerged of betrayal, abuse, sexual violation
and grueling accounts of masculine socialization endured in the cultural institutions of
church, military, corporation, family and society. Gender reconciliation work requires
both courage and humility to speak one s truth, to open to the pain of others, to take
personal and social responsibility. The process follows an alchemical wisdom; the pain
of genderoppression is confronted head on and deep in the core of the wound, a hidden
light or grace is discovered that unfolds into a profound healing and transformation
(Keepin, 2008). William Keepin sums up how GRI has a bright future, and its place
within the growing social justice movements;

Interning with Gender Reconciliation International will help me combine the gender
theories I learned academically and teach me ways to apply them practically through
real peace building situations. Interning at GRI will allow me to incorporate sessions
from all of the following courses I have taken at The University for Peace such as:
Gender Theory, Human Security, Religion, Human Trafficking, Gender based
Violence, and Conflict Resolution. Gender Theory is the foundation of all gendered
issues; realizing cultural and social structures of gender begin very early, through
conditioning and perpetuated by social standards, often times brushed off as a
biological or set standard. Studying gender theorist like Mary Daly, Judith Butler, and
Cynthia Enloe allow me to create space to recognize oppressive structures and use
different approaches on ways to overcome and solve oppressive structures, and apply
them to the internship. Gender Reconciliation International recognizes these social
norms and help participants realize their full potential that do not exit within boxes,
their seminars allow for stories, and questions of their conditioning and of social
constructs. Human Security addresses the deep rooted violence between genders,
ethnic groups, religious groups, and economic groups. Gender Reconciliation
International facilitates discussions on how societies construct the us and them
divisions and how to bridge gaps between groups in a realization that we are one. I
believe adding the spiritual we are one theory to human security and reconciliation will
give a brighter outlook to social issues, which I was lacking during the course. In the
course it is easy to give up hope for humans to support and recognize each other as one
race because of all the war and turmoil
Email Reflection
I am writing this email because I feel very discouraged after yesterday in general. It
seems as if one thing after another has occured and I m finding it very difficult to rely
on this process. I was told my ATI coach that I did not send an email regarding my last
module and the 150 comprehensive exam when I had sent her four on two separate
days which allowed me only two days to take four assessment, four test focused
reviews, the leadership questions and then finally the 180 exam at home. I waited hours
open hours to finally get my code the day before the proctored exam which was sent to
me at 10pm the night before. After feeling as if though I was finally getting somewhere I
sat down for the exam and found that I was continuously being broken... Show more

Then finally after all was said and done I found out that my mentor whom did not
show up for the official meeting where everyone meet their mentors and only heard
from her through an email is no longer my mentor. The reason I was giving is because
she is sick. I understand that things happen and I do hope she is doing well but at this
point its difficult to feel as if though this whole process is made to help us. I am now
left without a mentor and forced to take an exam in which I was not given a proper
environment for. In addition, a group of us went to see the President whom was busy
but was told by his secretary that he would reach out to one of us which has yet to
occur. So now the day after examining we find out that there is now three days given to
those who did not meet requirements on the week in which the program was set to be
done. I don t see how 90% of the cohort has special accommodation to test next week but
the 6 or 7 of us who did not meet bench mark yesterday have to wait 2 weeks and will
receive an incomplete for the following 8 weeks. This has not only affected my confident
but also the day in which I will be allowed to test for the NCLEX . I hope that all these
discrepancies if not fixed for our cohort will be fixed for future classes because this
definitely will break someones pride and
My Experience That Changed My Life
In my lifetime, there have been many breathtaking and wonderful experience s I have
had the pleasure in being a part of, only one experience comes to mind when I think
about a personal experience that s dear to me. The experience that is most dear to me
would be one that changed my view on life and the path I had paved for myself along
the way.
Ordinarily, when I was seventeen years old and still in school life was hard and very
stressful, I know many people would say that life was easy with no bills to pay and a
roof over my head, but my living environment wasn t the issue. The main issue I had
when I was still in school was the pressure I had resting on my shoulders, my family
always had high hopes, and expectations for me, and I always felt so overwhelmed
when it came to school and the grades we were given each quarter on our report cards. I
didn t want to disappoint my family and ruin their view towards me as a still in progress
student at Haines City High School, when it came down to it, I failed and I felt so
horrible knowing I would have to repeat the year because I was either slacking in
homework or being poorly graded on classroom assignments. As soon as I started seeing
the world in black and white and losing hope for graduation, I got called to the schools
main office for a parent teacher conference. At that moment I was frightened, not because
of my grades or my work ethics, but because that conference had the potential to change
my families,
Examples Of Absolute Power Corrupts In Othello
As the saying goes, absolute power corrupts absolutely. In Othello by William
Shakespeare, Iago thoroughly abuses the power of the trust that others have in him. The
story takes place in Venice, Italy, and in Cyprus, during the late 16th century. Iago, an
ensign, is attempting to manipulate Othello, the Venetian general, into feeling jealous of
his wife, Desdemona. Iagowants Othelloto feel the same as he did when Othello picked
another soldier, Cassio, over him for the position of lieutenant. As Othello progresses,
Iago increasingly abuses the trust that others have in him in order to execute his schemes,
because he enjoys holding control over those more powerful than him; this point is
evident when he when he manipulates Roderigo (a Venetian... Show more content on

Othello has finally been fully convinced of Desdemona s infidelity, and plots to kill
both her and Cassio. Iago jumps in, spurring him on and even saying that he will be
the one to take care of Cassio. OTHELLO: Get me some poison, Iago, this night. I ll
not expostulate with her, lest her body and beauty unprovide my mind again This
night, Iago! IAGO: Do it not with poison. Strangle her in her bed, even the bed she
hath contaminated. OTHELLO: Good, good, the justice of it pleases! Very good!
Othello has already planned on killing Desdemona, but Iago cannot resist jumping in
one last time to suggest a new way of killing Desdemona, one of a twisted poetic
justice. This does not really help Iago s situation, as no matter how Desdemona dies,
Othello would likely be caught. This is especially clear later as Othello is not even really
secretive about it, at least partly because he believes he is morally right due to her
