Answer 1

Organizational policies play a critical role in establishing the recruitment process, which impacts
the recruiters' conduct. These policies influence the recruiter's actions by setting priorities,
directing the decision-making process, and ensuring that the recruitment methods align with the
organization's goals and values. Let us consider and analyze the below three organizational
policies and how they impact the recruiter has choices.

1. Diversity and Inclusion policies: Many organizations have created policies to

promote employee diversity and inclusion. Such processes may require diverse
candidates to be given preference during the hiring process or a broad release of the
job posting to attract a more extensive and varied candidate pool. These guidelines
can significantly impact the recruiter, requiring a thorough search for and extensive
consideration of various potential employees. Furthermore, to meet the organization's
policy, the recruiters may be required to alter their hiring process and criteria. As
demonstrated by companies like KPMG and Deloitte Canada, organizations that
encourage a culture of Diversity and inclusion promote programs to cultivate a
diverse workforce. These initiatives have a significant impact on the hiring process as
they require the recruiters to take steps to seek our applications from minoritized
groups actively. (Abaker, 2019; Schwind, 2019). Recruiters participate in diverse job
fairs, adopt inclusive phrases in job postings and adhere to unbiased selection norms.
The top position on the Forbes list of Canada's best employers for Diversity, 2023,
goes to Toronto Metropolitan University. It is fitting that many Canadian universities
are at the forefront of diversity, equality, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. "Given that,
they would be important places to role model how to work on EDI issues."
(Peachman, 2023)
2. Internal Recruitment policies: Organizations often adopt policies to encourage
internal movement and career advancements for existing employees. These policies
impact the recruitment and selection process by mandating recruiters to offer
candidates from within the organization preference over external candidates.
Recruiters collaborate with internal stakeholders to choose suitable employees,
analyze their performance, and offer them professional development options. As a
result, these policies foster the growth of internal employees, boost staff motivation,
and create a culture of growth and alliance within the organization. Publicis Media
opted to turn its attention internally by organizing a job fair meant for internal
employees (Dobson, 2020).
3. Background check Policies: Several companies have established policies that
mandate background checks for all recruits. This could impact the recruiter's choice
to inquire from the candidate to provide additional information and carefully review
any possible red flags that might come up during the background check process. To
verify that the background checks are carried out correctly and adhere to the
applicable law and regulations, the recruiter might have to collaborate with the
corporate legal team. Recently I interviewed for a part-time job in Winners, which is
part of the TJX group. Post my selection, they initiated a background verification
check through an external agency, and now I am awaiting my offer letter.
Organizational policies significantly impact how recruiters select applicants (Schwind et al.,
2019). They can focus on Diversity and inclusion, internal hiring, and background checks. These
policies encourage the recruiter's attempts to promote Diversity, recognize potential talent within
the organization, and identify candidates with a thorough background check. These policies
assist recruiters to hire candidates who correspond with the organization's values and enhance its
success. To ensure that the policies match the current workforce and legal obligations, it is
essential to assess and revise these policies continuously.
