PHILOSPHY OF EDUCATION

______________________________________________________________________________

I believe…

Teachers influence children in the classroom everyday as they spend most of their young
life at school, and their teacher is their role model. Each young student has the potential to be
successful, which is developed and fostered by their teachers. The teacher’s dedication and
flexibility will determine the children’s success. I was a preschool teacher for seven years; I
received my child development certificate and graduated from the College of Sequoias. I then
decided to further my education by teaching elementary school and one day to become a
principal.
The basis of a healthy classroom environment is to build strong relationships with
children and be open and ready to make changes when needed. As a teacher, I will write
meaningful lesson plans with active, engaged activities that are developmentally correct for all
the children in the classroom—making accommodations and modifications needed for children
with any of their needs and creating a safe, trusting, and fun atmosphere/environment while
creating positive relationships with students and parents.
Every educator needs to remember that every child learns the same; there are different
types of learners. There are auditory learners, visual learners, kinesthetic learners, and reading
and writing learners. The educator must determine the child’s interests and needs and make the
proper accommodations/modifications for each child. Educators need to teach the child how they
can learn to succeed in and out of the classroom. We need to prepare the way the child will learn.
Educators choose teaching as a career because it is a significant career. Educators are
necessary and in high demand due to many retiring and leaving the profession. I firmly believe
that the educator teaches social skills along with the lessons taught. Depending on the
demographic and environment of your classroom, the teacher, at times, maybe the only positive
role model the student may see or know. Further, it takes a particular type of person to be an
educator. To take on this career, one understands the sacrifices one will make to provide an
opportunity to help shape students to succeed. Without dedicated educators, many students will
fall through the cracks and will not be successful, and later in life, in their teens and adulthood,
may strain our society.
I want to help shape our future and help every child succeed in and out of the classroom.
My view on the role of family and community teaching is to have them involved and build
strong relationships. Having conversations with parents will help the educator to get different
ideas that will enable the educator to teach the child. Further, having the family and community
involved shows the buy-in to the student, which creates a positive relationship that will foster the
willingness to learn and participate. I have always loved teaching and will continue to teach with
all the effort needed so that every child will meet their academic goal.
