One of my means for verification for Objective 11 are sample of learners’ output
with self-assessment. These were some of the output of some learners which I got from
their portfolio. The outputs in Math are distributed in four grading periods. Although I
started handling these pupils at the later part of the 1 st Quarter, I still monitored their
progress by assessing them first. And since one of the competencies for this quarter is
for the learner to be able to add the following numbers with sums up to 1000 without and
with regrouping: a. 2-digit by 3-digit numbers b. 3-digit by 3-digit numbers, I asked them
to do this output. Upon checking and returning their work, I asked them to answer the
two simple questions as a form of their self- assessment. For the 1 st question, they were
to draw a smiley if they feel good about their work which means that they are happy of
their score and they really understood the lesson on addition. If not, they were to draw a
sad face. For the 2nd question, they were to draw a smiley if they are ready to learn the
next lesson, if not, they are to draw a sad face. This in turn, allows me to reteach when
needed and provide more exercises to those pupils who need interventions.
For the 2nd Quarter, one of the competencies in Math was for the learner to be able
to subtract 2- to 3-digit numbers with minuends up to 999 without and with regrouping .
Through their output, I was able to monitor their progress on the four fundamental
operations which is very important for them to be numerates. Again, I used the self-
assessment tool that I usually utilize. But this time, instead of them drawing a smiley,
they were to simply put a check mark on the yes column if they feel good about their
output and if they are ready for the next lesson. If not, they were to put a check mark on
the no column. With this simple self- assessment, I was able to monitor their progress
especially how far they are when it comes to their numeracy skills.
Two of the competencies in Math for the Third Quarter are for the learners to be
able to illustrate and write a related equation for multiplication: repeated addition; and to
be able to represent division, and write a related equation for each type of situation: equal
sharing. I was able to monitor the progress of my learners through their output. In the
self-assessment that they had, they were to color the box with their favorite color if they
feel good about their work and if they are ready to proceed to the next lesson. If not, they
were to simply shade the box using their pencil. Those who shaded the box/es using
their pencil were asked to stay in the afternoon. I retaught the lesson to them and they
were given more exercises.
For the Fourth Quarter,
