The path to Paradise (Surat Ya – Sin 55-68)

Q: Give the meaning of Qur’anic vocabulary:

‫َﻑ ٱْﺳ َﺘَﺒُﻘﻮ۟ﺍ ٱﻟِّﺼَٰﺮ َﻁ‬ Race to cross the path
‫َﻟَﻤَﺴْﺨَٰﻨ ُﻬْﻢ‬ Changed their shapes and forms
‫ُّﻧ َﻌ ِّﻤْﺮُﻩ‬ Grant long life
‫ُﻧَﻨِّﻜْﺴُﻪ ِﻓﻰ ٱْﻟَﺨْﻠِﻖ‬ Reverse to the most decrepit old age

Q: What are the conditions of the righteous people in Paradise?

Allah(SWT) prepared for the righteous people perpetual pleasure in Paradise where
they will sit with their spuses in the shade of gardens, reclining on luxury couches
and getting everything they wish for.

Q: Understand the meaning of the verse:

Allah says, ()٥٨( ‫“( َﺳ َٰﻠ ٌﻢ َﻗْﻮًﻝﻻ ِّﻣﻦ َّﺭ ٍّﺏ َّﺭ ِﺣﻴٍﻢ‬peace”, a word from a Merciful Lord)

This refers to the Allah addressing the people of paradise and greeting them . If
the Most Merciful Lord gives them a salutation o f peace, they will attain
perfect peace and there is no blessing like it.

Q: Why the Holy Qur’an and the noble hadiths included description of the pleasure
of the paradise.

To increase our excitement and encourage us to do good deeds.

Q: Who is Satan and what are the risks of following Satan?

Satan also is called Shaitan in arabic. He is a jinn whose goal is to make humans burn
in hellfire by leading them astray from the right path. Risks of following satan are

Misguidance , Anger of Allah, Falling in to hell fire.

Q: Explain the benefits of using one’s mind and the risks of not performing one’s
duties towards Allah.

Benefits of using one’s mind The risks of not performing one’s duties towards Allah.
Makes us reach the right path. Takes us away from the right path.

Makes a person understand the aims Does not understand the purpose of sharia ruling and

Q: Explain why Allah told us that Satan had led astray many people in the past:

(‫)َﻭ َﻟَﻘْﺪ َﺃَﺿَّﻞ ِﻣﻨُﻜْﻢ ِﺟِﺒًّﻝ ﻼ َﻛ ِﺜﻴًﺮﺍ‬

“And he had already led astray from among you much of creation”

Q: Infer from sharia texts deeds that bring us closer to Allah:

Abu Huraira (r.a) said: I heard the messenger of Allah (s.a.w) saying: “He Good ties with kinship
who desires ample provisions and his life be prolonged should maintain
good ties with his blood relations”. (narrated by Muslim)
Allah (‫ )ﺗﻌﺎﻟﻰ‬said: Respecting parents

Me is the final destination.” (Luqman: 14)
The prophet (S.A.W) said; “Jibreel impressed upon me the kind treatment Being kind towards your

Lesson three:

Oaths and Vows


Q: What is the concept of Oaths and Vows?

Oaths: A solemn usually taken by calling upon God to witness of the truth of what
one says.

Vows: a vow is the action, on the part of a person who is adult and of sound mind (mukallaf),
of obliging himself to do something that is not obligatory, whether he intends to do it straight
away or makes his doing it conditional upon something else

Q: Mention the types of Oaths?

1. Unintended Oath
2. Intended Oath
3. False Oath

Q: Explain, why swearing other than by the name of Allah does not constitute an
oath.

The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) said: “Allah has prohibited you from swearing by your
fathers. He who must take an oath may do so by swearing by the Name of Allah or he should
remain silent”

Q: What are the expiations for oaths?

Feeding ten needy people or clothing them or freeing a slave. In case you can not,
fast for three consecutive days.

Q: What is the wisdom of having various expiations?

So the muslim can fullfill the one that is best suited for him and he has multiple
options.

Q: Explain the importance of fulfilling vows.

It is a solemn promise and if you take a vow you are saying that you swear to do that
no matter what.

Q: Mention the three types of vows.

1. Vow to do a good deed
2. Absolute vow
3. Vow to commit a sin

Q: Infer from the following two hadiths types of vows:

[The Prophet (s.a.w) said: “He who has vowed to obey Allah, should obey Him. but
he who has vowed to disobey Allah, should not disobey him.”] {Narrated by Al-
Bukhari}

[The Prophet (s.a.w) said: “there is no vow and no oath concerning that which one
does not possess, nor to commit a sin, nor to sever the ties of kinship.”] {Narrated by
Al-Nasa’i}

In the first hadith the vow mentioned is a vow to do a good deed which is to obey
Allah. In the second hadith the vow is a vow to do a bad deed which is cutting ties of
kinship.

Unit 5:Lesson four:

The battle of Hunayn


Causes: To defend Makkah from plots by neighbouring tribes

Location: Valley named hunyan which is 20km from makkah

Time: Two weeks after conquest of makkah in the 8th year of hijrah

March: From Makkah unlike other battles which was from madinah

Key feature: Last battle that the muslims fought with the Prophet(PBUH)

Number of Muslim: 12000 soldiers

Result: Signs of defeat but then Victory for muslims

Q: Compare between the battle of Badr and the battle of Hunayn:

Q: Deduce the lessons learned from the battle of hunayn.

1.Victory is from Allah alone, and He granted it to Muslims if they work Hard.

3. The courage of the Prophet in war and in the most dangerous circumstances

Unit 3 Lesson 5:
Q: What is Ihram? What is the purpose of wearing Ihram for all the male
Muslims and why the same Ihram is not used for female?
Ihram means the intention to perform hajj or umrah or both. In this
state some things become forbidden. The Ihram for men shows
simplicity but women Ihram in different because they have to cover their
whole body and if sisters believe that in these present times they can
attract men as the Haram is always so full.
