Write a composition (300 - 350 words) on any one of the following:

1. Original Short Story: The story must be original. It should begin with the line, ‘I
was eating at a coffee shop when I suddenly felt…….’
 Should have plot, sequence, settings, characters, dialogues, creativity

 The story may be in first or the third person and could take any form – i.e.

 Detailed description of the composition, where and how did it take place and
its outcome.
5. Picture Composition
 Composition must be related to the picture.
 It may be a descriptive, a story, narration of an event.
 Accept a wide interpretation (mere itemization is not accepted.)

Hari was a thief. He probably had got into trouble and fights while robbing people. He
could also have been in bad company and got into fights with his companions or been
caught by police and been beaten. This could have caused the scars on Hari’s face.
b) Did Anil realize that he was robbed? What was his reaction? [2]
Yes, Anil realized that he had been robbed. He knew this probably because all the notes
were wet and damp from the rain. However, he did not say anything to the thief and
behaved normally.
Instead, he made the morning tea the next day and also paid 50 rupees to Hari Singh as
his salary. Then Anil told Hari Singh that he would start teaching him to write whole
sentences from that day.

c) Where did Anil keep the bundle of notes? [1]

d) What were the different reactions of people whom Hari Singh had robbed

In his short career as a thief, he had made a study of men’s faces when they lost their
goods. He said that the greedy men showed fear; the rich men showed anger and the
poor men showed acceptance.

Anil was generous man. Anil does not hand the thief over to the police because he has
put the money back at its place. It shows that he realized his fault. He wants to make
amends for his ways. He must have felt guilty with himself. Anil wants to give him
one more chance and therefore forgives him.
