The distinguishing characteristic of Adler s theory is the marked power struggle between
siblings. Personality thus becomes a concept strongly influenced by a basic urge for
attention and respect. At a young age, these same goals are gained from parents the
struggle extends to adulthood as common relations and peers.
Frank Sulloway
For a period, birth order was refuted and phased out from serious study. However, as a
result of Sulloway s release of his own studies, birth order theories gained respect once
again (Paulhus, Trapnell, Chen, 1999). Frank Sulloway follows Adler s theory in the
sense that he also believed sibling differences attributed to birth order resulted from
competition between siblings. Sulloway (1996) held that siblings utilize differences in
size and strength to overpower younger siblings. These younger siblings in turn resorted
to counterstrategies in order to hold their ground against older siblings. Such a discussion
is certainly reminiscent to Adler s own speculations.
However, Sulloway s studies brought in a new dimension to the study of birth order. It
was through his research that the Big Five Personality traits, namely Openness,
Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism, were introduced into
the study (Sulloway, 2001). Data was gathered reflecting the personality dispositions of
individuals based on birth order. This served to give credibility to this particular area of

Secondly, Hemingway portrays violence through entertainment. Hemingway
demonstrates violence through entertainment by bullfighting in arenas for the crowds
enjoyment or the for the matador s satisfaction, the narrator reports, The crowd
shouted all the time and threw pieces of bread down into the ring, then cushions and
leather wine bottles; keeping up whisling and yelling. Finally the bull was too tired
from so much bad sticking and folded his knees and lay down and one of the cuadrilla
leaned out over his neck and killed him with the puntillo. The crowd came over the
barrera and around the torero and two men grabbed him and held him and some one cut
off his pigtail and was waving it and ran away with it (Chapter XI). This demonstrates
violence through entertainment for the reason that the crowd is very enthusiastic with
the bullfight by throwing bread and alcohol finally, someone kill it takes it tail to play
with, he has no remorse for the bull. Occasionally with bullfighting the matador kills the
bull purely for their own satisfaction, this is shown when a man takes on many bulls and
happy for himself he exclaims, We kills the savages bulls, and the drunkards bulls, and
the riau riau dancers bulls. Yes. We kill them. We kill them all right. Yes. Yes. Yes
(Chapter XIII). This demonstrates violence entertainment purely for the matador by
recognizing how content he is when he kills a large amount of

Globalization And Its Impact On The World Economy
Introduction

Globalisation is disputably the most vital factor currently shaping the world economy.
Although it is not a new phenomenon (waves of globalisation can be traced back to the
1800s) the changes it is bringing about now occur far more rapidly, spread more widely
and have a much greater business, economic and social impact than ever before.
Globalisation has benefitted Australia greatly because of the business connections it has
with other countries around the globe, which has allowed business to grow and expand
not just in size but also product range. Globalisation has widened the number of
costumers Australian business can sell too.

What is globalisation?
Globalisation is a term used to describe as the process of change, growing
interconnectedness and independence among countries and economies, connecting the
world closer together through better world wide communication, transport and trade
links. This process is changing the world dramatically and quickly, which includes all
production, trade, financial flows, investment, technology, labour and economic
behaviour in nations and between nations.

How has globalization affected business in Australia?

Australia has always been open to international trade more than most countries. This is
because it began as a small British colony and has always been dependent on
international trade for its economic survival. Wool was Australia s first large export but
it was always raw wool, which was traded,
Nicholas Copernicus Research Paper
The idea that the Earth was the center of the universe was not challenged until about
1507 when Nicholas Copernicus went to Rome and chaired the mathematics
department. He wanted to find out how Earth works so that he can glorify God. His
findings, however, contradicted the church s scriptures. He did not publish his findings
until his death because of his fear of the church accusing him of heresy. I do not believe
it would have been wise for Copernicus to publish his findings because of his lack of
evidence and the fact that it was his word against the whole church. Nicholas Copernicus
was a Polish monk, astronomer, and mathematician. He studied medicine in Padua and
later took the chair of mathematics in Rome. He was respected by the church so much he
was called to Rome by the church to help with the reform. Copernicus wanted to find, for
the church, the meaning of the universe. When he finally found something that he
believed was significant, he decided that he could not publish it, because he would be
charged with heresy. He knew that his findings would contradict Holy Scriptures and
would be injuring people s faith. He later decided to publish his findings right before
his death so he could not be punished. I believe that his findings were too advanced for
his time. He had no backing for his discovery and, if published earlier, may not have
made the impact it had. It was not accepted, but it put the idea into people s heads,
specifically Galileo Galilei.
