Service Manual MP150 / MP250 cylinder seals replacement

To replace the seals you need to remove the cylinder

and pull out the inner part. To do this, please follow
this instruction:

1. Close the valve of the press (1)

2
2. Remove the spindle (2) - be careful to remove the
plug inside the spindle (3) before it falls down 3
3. Remove the cylinder plate (4)
4
Important: If you have a motorized press, please open
the back side of the metal cover to get access to the
motor pump and replace the red ventilation cap („OIL“ 1
labeled) with the standard plug screw

4. Turn the press upside down

5. Remove the four 5

small screws which hold
the cylinder (5) - the
four inner ones

6. Pull off the cylinder carefully (blue arrow)

7. The cylinder is full with oil. Pour it out and collect it in

a separate container

8. Unscrew the middle plate (6) but be careful: there is a

strong spring inside. You need to find something that 6
prevents the spring from coming out too fast. This might
help you:

Take a 10 mm sheet of a solid material.

Drill three holes in it: two for the outer
threads (7+8, Ø 9 mm, distance
64 mm) and one in the middle for the
screw (9, Ø 11 mm). Use two M8 screws
(10) to fix this plate at the bottom of the
10
cylinder (11) and put an 6 mm Allen key 11
through the middle hole (blue arrow) to
remove the screw. Now, the spring can
8
be hold with the sheet and can be slowly
9
removed.
7
9. The inner cylinder does not come out easily. Use the same sheet
you have made before, fix it again with two screws at the outer sides. 13
Then, take a M10 threaded rod with three nuts. One nut needs to be
under this sheet (12), the other nuts need to be fixed against each
other on the top end (13). Fix this rod inside the cylinder, hold the
nuts on top with one wrench and turn the other nut with a second
wrench upwards and you will see that the inner cylinder comes up.
12
10. There are two different versions of seals inside. Both versions are
consisting of two parts, the inner and outer ring. The motorized press
uses a splitted outer seal, it can be easily removed. To remove the
seal for the manual presses, you need to cut it in two parts.

11. To replace it with a new one, you need to put it on top of the
cylinder and pull it downwards. You need much power for the manual
press seal, maybe it is helpful to use a large screw clamp and two
large 10 mm thick sheets on both ends (for cylinder protection) to
pull it downwards. After getting in position, the manual press seal
needs about 30 Minutes to go back to the previous size.

12. To pull back the inner cylinder into the outer one, you need to 14
use again the tool you have just made like shown in the picture (14).
Put the threadened rod through the tool and through the inner
cylinder, fix it at the outer cylinder and turn the nut downwards.

13. Then put back the spring, fix it again and replace the other seals.

14. Put back the cylinder into the press, fix it with the four screws,
turn back the press, screw in the spindle with the plug.

15. Filling with new oil and remove the air in the system, for
MP250M motorized press:

15.1 Remove the cover at the back side to get access to the pump module.
15.2 Remove the screw (or red air vent plug labelled „OIL“) from the tank.
15.3 On top of the cylinder (beneath the plate) you find a hexagon socket screw sealing
the hydraulic system. Remove it completely and screw in the bleeding tool instead (white
tool with a clear tubing at the other end). Connect the outlet of the bleeding tool to the
tank where the ventilation plug was screwed in.
15.4 Start the press and let it run until oil comes through the venting tool. Stop it and
refill new hydraulic oil through the motor. (As the PC hood is removed you will have to
press the safety interlock switch manually for the time the motor is running.)
15.5 Start the motor again and let it run for 1.5 – 2 minutes. Then allow the pump
module to cool for 3 minutes as it is constructed for intermittent duty of 40%.Repeat
this 5 – 10 times until no air bubbles are visible any more.
15.6 Remove the bleeding tool and seal the hydraulic system with the hexagon socket
screw.
15.7 Put back the cylinder plate, air vent plug and cover.

Manual press MP150 / MP250 (including D – Versions):

Bleeding the manual press is principally working the same way. But you have to remove
the side cover instead, remove the screwing directly behind the presure gauge where
the white reflux line goes into the tank and put the other side of the bleeding tool
through this hole. Then you have to pump manually until no bubbles can be seen any
more.
