The main focus of the LCP, or Learning Centered Pedagogy, is to make sure that students' learning
experience and needs are the top priority. It's about creating a learning environment where students are
actively involved in their own learning journey. The key is to encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and
collaboration among students. The ultimate goal is to shift the focus from the teacher being the center of
instruction to the students being the center of learning. This approach supports each student's unique growth
and development.
2. What are cognitive and meta-cognitive factors in learning? How do we apply this factor in the learning
process?
Cognitive factors in learning are about how our brain processes information when we learn. It includes
things like paying attention, remembering what we learn, and using our thinking skills to understand and solve
problems. Meta-cognitive factors, on the other hand, are about being aware of our own thinking and learning
process. It's like knowing how we learn best and being able to control and adjust our learning strategies. We
can apply these factors in the learning process by helping students become aware of how they learn, teaching
them strategies to improve their attention and memory, and encouraging them to reflect on their learning and
set goals for themselves. This way, students can become more effective learners and take charge of their own
learning journey.
3. List down the 14 principles of learning centered teaching. How can you help in advocating these principles?
As a student, I believe the best way to motivate us is by creating a positive and supportive atmosphere in
the classroom. When teachers set clear goals and expectations, it helps us understand what we need to achieve.
Recognizing our efforts and achievements through praise and rewards boosts our confidence and encourages us
to keep trying. Making the learning material interesting and relevant to our lives helps us see the value in what
we're learning. When teachers show genuine care and build strong relationships with us, it motivates us to work
harder and strive for success.
