• Brand Name: Cogniben

• Chemical/Therapeutic Classification: Psychostimulants and nootropics.

• Indication: is indicated to support cognitive function, enhance memory and attention, and provide
neuroprotective effects, making it beneficial in conditions such as stroke recovery, Alzheimer's disease,
and traumatic brain injury.

• Dosage: 1g IV q12h

• Drug action: It safeguards the energy reserves of neurons, hinders cell death (apoptosis), and promotes
the production of acetylcholine. Additionally, it is asserted to boost blood flow and oxygen utilization in
the brain.

• Side Effects and Adverse Reactions: Stomach pain, back pain, blurred vision, constipation, headache.

• Nursing Responsibilities:

 Monitor blood pressure, pulse, and heart rate.

synthesis.

• Side Effects and Adverse Reactions: Myalgia, myopathy, rhabdomyolysis, headache, chest pain,
peripheral edema, dizziness, rash, abdominal pain, constipation,

• Nursing Responsibilities:

 Monitor for headache.


 Assess for rash, pruritus, malaise.
 Monitor cholesterol, triglyceride lab values for therapeutic response.
 Monitor LFTs, CPK.

• Chemical/Therapeutic Classification: NSAID (anti-inflammatory)

• Indication: To relieve mild pain or fever

• Dosage: 10 mg/tab, 1 tab OD

• Drug action: Inhibits cyclo-oxygenase enzyme via acetylation. Inhibits formation of prostaglandin
derivative thromboxane A.

• Side Effects and Adverse Reactions: Tinnitus, dizziness, hypersensitivity, dyspepsia, minor bleeding, Gl
ulceration

• Nursing Responsibilities:

 Monitor urinary pH (sudden acidification, pH from 6.5 to 5.5, may result in toxicity).
 Assess skin for evidence of ecchymosis.
 If given as antipyretic, assess temperature directly before and 1 hr after giving medication.
 Evaluate for therapeutic response: relief of pain, stiffness, swelling; increased joint mobility;
reduced joint tenderness; improved grip strength.

• Dosage: 30 ml in 70 cc PNSS

• Drug action: Cerebrolysin has a promoting effect on neurogenesis and oligodendrogenesis via
stimulating the expression of the Shh signalling pathway. Cerebrolysin increases mRNA modulation of
Shh and its receptors ‘Patched’ (Ptch) and ‘Smoothened’ (Smo).

• Side Effects and Adverse Reactions: Headache, nausea, vertigo, sweating, agitation, fever,
hallucinations, confusion, and flu-like syndrome.

• Nursing Responsibilities:

 Conduct a thorough assessment of the patient's neurological status, medical history, and vital
signs before administering Cerebrolysin.
 Administer Cerebrolysin according to the prescribed dosage, route, and schedule, ensuring
proper aseptic technique and monitoring for any adverse reactions during administration.
 Regularly monitor the patient's neurological status, vital signs, and any changes in response to
Cerebrolysin therapy.
