The half sovereign is an English gold coin named at one-half of a pound real.

First
gave in quite a while present structure in 1817, it has been struck by the Imperial
Mint in many years starting around 1980 as a gatherer's and bullion piece.

The half sovereign was initially presented in 1544 (in the rule of Henry VIII) however
the issue was stopped after 1604. In 1817, as a component of the Incomparable
Recoinage, half sovereigns and sovereigns were once again introduced. Until it was
ended as a cash coin in 1926, the half sovereign was struck in many years and circled
broadly. As well as being begat in London, it was struck at the provincial mints in
Australia and South Africa. Demanding norms made it challenging to strike, and it
