Secondary Parent Letter - Week 1, 2023/24 31st August 2023

Dear respected parents, Alsalam Alikoum,

This week has flown by for us and the children. We have welcomed many new students and parents and the
eagerness in children has been amazing. We would like to take this opportunity to share this week’s updates
and repeat some of the valuable information.

We would like to welcome Sr Ambreen Khan, who joined our secondary team as a Head of Sixth Form. Sr
Ambreen is a highly experienced practitioner with experience of teaching Business Studies, Mathematics,
and Islamic Studies from GCSE to A Level in the UK.

We are extremely pleased to have Sr Ambreen join the ISCS family and are confident that her expertise will
effectively support and guide our senior school students.

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

Please note that for the safety of our children we have decided to close Gate No. 10 during dismissal time
(after 12:45) as this gate opens directly into the road while its extremely busy. Please use the gates shown
below for arrival and dismissal.

Secondary School Timings – Week 1 & 2

As we gear up for the new academic year, the secondary school will be half day for the first two weeks.

28th August – 7th September 07:00 am – 13:00 pm

 Secondary School Timings – Week 3 onwards
This academic year we have made minor adjustments to the school timetable to improve the overall quality
of teaching and learning. The day has been extended for approximately 20 minutes to ensure Salah Time is
preserved with utilising the 4-day a week to the fullest for curriculum coverage. The 2 additional periods in
KS4 & KS5 will provide flexibility in applying corrective weightage in the number of lessons with the
respective subjects that require it.

Textbook Distribution & Equipment

We will begin distributing all the textbooks for all year groups starting from Monday
11th September. This is to ensure all the students receive their correct books after
they have chosen their elective subjects and correctly enrolled to the courses.
Students are required to bring the following equipment:
• Blue, black, and red pens
• Pencil and eraser
• Geometry set
• Scientific calculator
We strongly recommend you purchase the model shown on the right as this is Casio FX-991EX
recommended by the exam boards.

School Dress Code

All students are expected to strictly follow the school dress code.
• Girls must wear navy blue school abaya and Hijab throughout school day. P.E. uniform is to be
worn on P.E. days only, under the school abaya.
• Hoodies or Jumpers that are not part of the school dress code are not permitted.
• No tracksuit bottoms for boys. Only black/navy school trouser.
• No colourful trainers outside PE sessions. Black shoes only.

Students who wear hoodies during school hours will have their hoodies confiscated.

Electronic Devices – Laptops, Tablets & Mobile Phones

Please note that mobile phones are not permitted in school and that the teachers have the right to confiscate
a student’s phone if it is seen. Students who need to bring their phone can hand them in to their supervisors
who will store them safely during the school day. If a mobile phone is found in a student’s possession it can
only be collected by the parents.

Laptop, Headsets, Air Pods and devices are not permitted across the secondary school from year 8 to year
11. Mashallah we have invested heavily in brand new Computer labs across both our Boys and Girls
secondary to support their learning.

Student in Year 12 & 13 who are studying A Levels are permitted to bring a laptop or tablet to support their
learning during lessons and for them to study during their free lesson.

Parent Orientation
Secondary leadership team will host an online parent orientation, for all parents and students on
the given days below. Please join these informative sessions as we will be giving a walkthrough of
all school processes.

Photography Consent Form

Occasionally, the school may take photographs of the students at our school during different educational
activities or events. These photos may be published in different mediums like School’s website and social
media pages. Therefore, we kindly seek your consent about including your child in the photos.

Swimming Consent Form
