Action Research Field Work Component
Field work guidelines:
1. Seek permission from the principal of the school to use the school,
specifically your class, as a research site. Your request for permission
letter is prepared for you by the Education Department. Keep a copy of
your Request for Permission Letter and place it in the appendix of your
Final Research Report.
2. Get consent from parents for their child/ren to participate in the study
using the Consent Form provided.
3. Revise your proposal to suit the new classroom contextand change to past
tense before you submit to your supervisor.
4. Prepare your data collection instruments and get them checked and
approved by your research supervisor before you start data
collection.You can use Google Forms to collect the questionnaire/survey
data online.
5. Have a clear description of your intervention plan and the steps for its
implementation and indicate at what points during the intervention you
will collect your data.
6. After all permissions have been granted, CAREFULLY implement your
intervention, and collect your data.
7. KEEP ALL DATA COLLECTED AS EVIDENCE. YOU WILL BE
REQUIRED TO PRESENT THESE TO YOUR RESEARCH
SUPERVISOR AFTER PRACTICUM.
8. Please make sure you collect ORIGINAL data. Plagiarism will be heavily
penalised.
9. Work closely with your supervisor to ensure that you collect sufficient
data before the end of Practicum.
