1.Why did Hamlet not do away with his uncle when the opportunity offered itself?

Answer: Hamlet does not kill Claudius when he assumes that he is praying because
he doesn’t want Claudius to have the luxury of going to heaven while his father
unjustly murdered suffers in hell.

2. What is your reaction to the reason for Hamlet’s hesitation?

Answer: Hamlet observes Claudius’s reaction to the play and decides that the ghost
of his father was telling the truth. Claudius murdered Hamlet’s father.

3.Do you think Hamlet could have another reason besides the one stated in the
play? Support your answer.

Answer: Yes, Hamlet’s primary reason is his hearing the news that the ghost of his
dead father has been seen at the castle, and then his subsequent meeting with the
ghost. The mere presence of a ghost is a bad omen ghost don’t come for any good
reasons.

4.Would you hold Hamlet responsible for the subsequent deaths of innocent people
including that of his mother, his uncle, and himself? Support your answer.
Answer: The uncle is responsible for all the deaths in Hamlet because he is the one
who killed the King, ( Hamlet’s father) and started Hamlet’s quest for revenge and
justice. He also decided to put on a play in which a King is killed the same way his
father was killed.

5.Do you think Hamlet could have explored ways of getting back at his uncle other
than violence? List those ways.
