Title # 2
Taro (Colocasia esculenta) leaves as bioplastic

Taro leaves can be used for the production of bioplastics, specifically

through the extraction of Taro starch. Several studies have demonstrated
the potential of Taro starch as a raw material for biodegradable bioplastic
films.

Research has shown that Taro starch can be utilized as a potential source to
produce bioplastic films by reinforcing it with bentonite, a type of clay.
Additionally, biodegradable plastic has been successfully developed from
the starch of purple Taro tuber (Xanthosoma sagittifolium) and chitosan,
resulting in environmentally friendly plastic.

The use of Taro starch to develop bioplastics has been found to yield
biodegradable films, and the addition of bentonite or chitosan has further
enhanced the properties of these bioplastic films. Furthermore, Taro starch
has been identified as an effective concentration for producing organic
plastic, exhibiting resistance to heat and solubility.
