PCA-Human Resource Frame Worksheet


Worksheet Objectives:
1. Describe the human resource frame
2. Apply the human resource frame to your personal case situation

Complete the following making sure to support your ideas and cite from the textbook and other
course materials per APA guidelines. After the peer review, you have a chance to update this and
format for your Electronic Portfolio due in Module 6.

1) Briefly restate your situation from Module 1 and your role.

I have chosen twitch as my organization. This is the largest organization for streaming all
things from video games to cooking or even just chatting. I am looking into it as a
external role looking into the organization. The situation I have chosen to look into is the
creator fees and requirements set by the company for their streamers have to agree to and
run to make a profit. It is within this situation I want to know if it is in fact profitable to
the either party.

2) Describe how the human resources of the organization influenced the situation.

They have created the most diverse environment from their content creators to their
viewers. In doing so they know that they can have a bunch of many different guilds and
groups. It is a wonderful place of acceptance and building. They promote the happiness
and equality of all people including their staff. They need to hold their staff to the same
standards they hold the veiwers and creators not to promote inequality and unacceptance.
I think based on this diverse field has created some of the best inclusion around. They
want this inclusion with the hiring to allow creativity and many different ideas flowing
through the pipeline.

I think that there is a lot to learn from their way of allowing such creativity. It is a little
difficult to as an outsider but the experience from being a external viewer has been
nothing other than supportinve. In this frame we see the amount of creativity from one
department holding up business ethics as well as the teams ability to bring in new
creators into the fold into an attempt to broaden the online viewing community. With the
creator fees and prices it makes it harder for creators to make any money. The problem is
that each company needs to make a profit to stay in business. With the amount of
streamers seeking newer avenues to make money the company is not as profitable as it
should be and has to make several cuts to their staff. Even with such a huge ethically

diverse HR department it is not an ideal situation for either party and the viewers can end
up leaving to other venus to follow their favorite streamers.

3) Recommend how you would use the human resources for an alternative course of
action regarding your case.

This is a tough category to answer as the human resources department from many
perspectives is doing the best they can in this situation. Due to the times it becomes
harder and harder to understand and know how to prepare the future. Streamers want
more money and the requirements make it so hard for any new person to come in and try
to make any as well. It is not that either party is being greedy but with other avenues
making it more profitable to the creator and less of a 50/50 split it is easy to see why
many streamers switch or make other supporting venues other than just twitch.

If I had to recommend anything different it would be to try and come up with a different
set of requirements or even making a bunch of different tiers instead of affiliate or partner
to allow many to become and see the wonders of the streaming community. This will
allow many more to become streamers and allow them to replace any that leave or even
make it like a tattoo parlor where you pay dues much like renting space.

4) Reflect on what you would do or not do differently given what you have learned
about this frame.

I think based on this frame I have learned so much differently about how to handle the
human resource aspect of business. I think there are many keys that make a business
successful. I think it is something that needs to be beyond just financial success. You
need to measure the happiness of the staff and have key systems in place that make your
staff the key of the operation. The management plays a whole role but with out the
human resource department making sure everyone is happy and satisfied how can any
business happen.

One of the key parts is making sure that they start at the beginning hiring only people that
fit what they are looking for. It is important to think and make sure that we are making
decisions in hiring. We need to make sure that you look at the needs of the company and
bring people in that are needed and not in a desperation due to lack of people.
