Worksheet Objectives:
1. Describe the political frame
2. Apply the political frame to your personal case situation

Complete the following making sure to support your ideas and cite from the textbook and other
course materials per APA guidelines. After the peer review, you have a chance to update this and
format for your Electronic Portfolio due in Module 6.

1) Briefly restate your situation from Module 1 and your role.

My role is a Human Resource manager, who works alongside corporate research and strategy.
The specific situation is pertaining to gender discrimination and pay inequity within the
organization.

2) Describe how the politics of the organization influenced the situation.

The politics of the organization gave us an opportunity to support our employees and to correct
the low morale the employees received from one of the other employees in a leadership position.

3) Recommend how you would use organizational politics for an alternative course of
action regarding your case.

I would use organizational politics to correct the behaviors that they encountered. I would work
to expedite the behaviors of leadership and develop a policy that emphasizes the importance of
ethical behaviors and treating others equally. By doing so, I would hope to resolve the dispute
and protect the interests of the two individuals involved.

4) Reflect on what you would do or not do differently given what you have learned
about this frame.

After learning about organizational politics, I’m aware that a situation such as this one could
either be completely ignored or could be acted upon immediately given the circumstances. With
that being said, I wouldn’t change my approach at all. I think I made the best decision because it
was in the best interest of the organization, to improve leadership development, but also
protecting the livelihood of the individuals who felt strong enough to speak up and bring it to our
attention. I think I chose the correct course of action and was able to establish clear guidelines
and policies for how decisions are made and how individuals in the organization, regardless of
the job position, should interact with one another.
