Volunteer in Yorkín

If you want to combine a stay in Yorkín with helping in the development

of the village, you can stay as a volunteer in Yorkín.

You can stay for some days, work in the morning and do the cultural
activities in the afternoon or stay longer if you want to. According to what
you want to do, we can arrange work in Stibrawpa, working in a garden
where we cultivate different species of plants for replanting and
reforestation, helping in reparations of the buildings or other works that
have to be done. We can also organize work in the rest of the
community if you wish.

The tariff for volunteers includes boat transportation, alimentation,

accommodation and the cultural activities.

Operation tipps

- The village of Bambú, where the local guide will wait for you is
officially called “Bratsi”, which you also read on the signs.
Anyways, the people know it as “Bambú”.
- The bathrooms of Bambú (Bratsi) are in bad conditions. We
recommend using the bathroom in Bribri before going to Bambú.
- In Bambú, the local guide will wait for you in the pulpería (small
grocery store). There you can buy water or other things.
- You cannot enter Yorkín by boat leaving Bambú later than 2:30
p.m.
- We do not recommend to start the hike to Bambú after 9 a.m.
because during the first 1,5 hours the sun is very hot and makes
the hike difficult.
- Only take with you what you really need, since every visitor will
have to carry his/ her own luggage.
- We do not have sufficient english guides. If you need translation,
book a local guide from outside or ask us in your reservation.

2,5 hours.

wish. Please let us know if you want to walk to Yorkín to send a local
guide to Bambú and let us know your shoe size. Level of difficulty:
intermediate (you will have to walk up a slope of approximately 20
degrees for half an hour). It is worthwhile hiking up the slope because
once you arrive, you will have wonderful views over the Mountains and
the Yorkín river and you might be able to admire poisonous frogs.
