Reserves
(Estimation to be based
‘on the exploration, if
any, carried out in the
area or on the local
parameters)
The lease area is more or less a flat to
gentle sloping sand bed having slope towards north and consists of
river sand, sandy soil, and alluvium which are located in right bank of
the river. The Highest altitudes are at 178m & respectively above mean
sea level. The lease area forms a part of Tel River where the thickness
of sand varies from 1.5 m to 2.5 m. So the average thickness of sand in
the lease area is 2.0m.
*A surface plan of the area has been prepared on 1:2000 scale at 2m
counter interval.
*Grid line along north-south and east-west direction is drawn at 100m.
terval.
*Geological plan has been prepared by placing the litho units in the
surface plan
Method of reserve estimation:
‘The reserve has been estimated by surface area method. Surface area
has been calculated from the surface then multiplied with the depth of
the deposit to get the volumetric reserve in cubic meter. This
Volumetric reserve has been multiplied with the recovery factor of
materials, to get the recoverable reserves. The recovery factor has been
considered as 100% of the total excavation to get the reserves which
can be extracted from the quarry and used in construction of building
or road construction.
G=ST, Where G= geological reserve of sand in m’, S= surface area of
entire sand bed in m? and T=Thickness of sand bed in m.

Existing Mining Method:
‘The mining operation at Chhenagaon sand Bed has been started earlier
and as a result of which pits have been developed. The mode of the
deposits, geomorphology of the area and its hydrological condition are
some of the factors that favours the open cast method of mining. Int
deposit, the mining is done by open cast manual dry pit mining
method. The sand are extracted loaded and transferred from pits to the
user through loader, truck/ tipper/ tractor, ete. The mining is done on
single shift basis. The local man power has been engaged in the mine.

During plan period the following geoscientific consideration have been
suggested to be taken into account for sand/ gravel mining:
1+ Inactive flood plains has been selected for mining.
1g will be stopped when the ground water table is
encountered.
3+ Segments of braided river system has been used preferably
falling within the lateral migration area of the river regime that
enhances the feasibility of sediments replenishments.
4+ Mining at the concave side of the river channel has been
selected to prevent bank erosion.
