Relevancy of Tourism and Travel Management with previous education:

Since my childhood, I have had a keen interest in travelling because whenever I got a chance to
travel, I never denied it, so having interest in travel always fascinates me towards exploring the
different places of my area. Further, when I started studying Geography and History, I got to know
about several destinations in INDIA which are famous as tourist places, such as- Taj Mahal, Hawa
Mahal, Ajanta & Ellora caves and many more. Later in my senior secondary, I studied units of
Geography and History like-Human Development, Transport and communication, human geography,
Through the Eyes of Travellers, Perceptions of Society, Colonialism and the Countryside: Exploring
Official Archives, and more, which provided me with the knowledge regarding the society and its
culture. After my senior secondary, I used to search more options throughout the world for my
future prospective, I searched various international sources where I got to know more and more
about the tourism sector which is countable as number one industry worldwide and I found in
WTTC’s Economic Impact 2019 report, India’s Travel and Tourism GDP contribution grew by 4.9%,
which was the third highest after China & Philippines. Therefore, I started researching deeply and
started certificate course to gain knowledge about this field specifically, in which I studied about-
History of Tourism, Event Management, Travel and Tour Operation, Culture and Cultivation, etc.
which all was enough for me to get a brief glance of the industry and made my interest grew by two-
folds. But this course being of 6-months, was just an opportunity for me to get an introduction to
this field specifically, therefore, there is still need to gain more advance knowledge and skills as I
have studied it briefly and theoretically only.
Hence, my previous education is fully related to what I’ll be studying in this course and my previous
knowledge will act as a foundation for me to understand the advance level of topics in the program
that I have applied for in a better manner.

Reason for choosing Tourism and Travel Management:

I have been passionate about tourism and travel, and I knew I wanted to pursue a career in this
industry. I chose this course as I felt genuine excitement about the opportunities that would become
available to me during the course. One of the most important advantages of taking up an
international tourism course is that I will have the chance to get a deep understanding of global
affairs and international relations. The proof of the international tourism industry’s expansion lies in
the fact that today, there are a handful of categories under tourism – eco-tourism, medical tourism,
agro-tourism, adventure tourism, etc. Tourism and Travel Management course will enable me to
become a part of the fastest growing sector and will help me to contribute to the largest service
sector. This will provide me a platform to develop and promote tourism and to maintain the
competitiveness of India as a tourist destination .

Beneficial Aspects of studying Tourism and Travel Management:

Tourism is a major industry in the service sector, and it is growing year by year. By 2024, global
travel business is forecasted to reach up to 2.1 trillion. Travel and Tourism offers countless
opportunities to pursue career paths in different areas, such as – tour group operator, being a guide
for high-end travel, tourist information centre manager, travel agency manager, etc. The tourism
industry is all about cultivating relationships and making connections with people. I will have the
opportunity to get educated among different cultures and customs that I will find helpful throughout
my career in the tourism industry. Tourism will teach me about things that are not exclusive to this
industry. It touches upon many others, such as - Negotiation, Sustainability, Event Planning,
decision making, etc. Therefore, I will gain skills that I can use in several fields. Tourism is an industry
that has opportunity to create change, help economies, preserve history/culture, and achieve
balance and prosperity for communities. If I study Travel and Tourism, I will get to learn the positive
impacts that mindful travelling can have on society. I’m sure about the facts that I will meet new
people that will leave lasting impression on me and vice-versa. Also, I will make memories which I
will treasure all my life and will enrich the lives of others by creating such experiences that leave
lasting impressions.

Reason for choosing Canada:

developed country like Canada. Also, it is a fact that Canada is the epicentre of world tourism. When
I compared the USA, Australia and Canada, I realised that Canada is much more affordable option.
According to the World University Rankings, Canada has 4 top best student cities in world. Quality
and internationally recognized degree, cost effective studies, safe destination of study and
welcoming & multicultural environment- which I found in Canada, thereby making it one of the
favoured destinations among Indian and other international students to study in Canada. It is
renowned for its research-intensive universities. Canada is one of the most popular travel
destinations in the world. As the fastest-growing industries in Canada, Tourism studies have
emerged as number one choice for students who wish to explore unique lifestyles. These travel

India is large market for travel and tourism. It offers a diverse portfolio of niche tourism products -

jobs and has the potential to create another 37 million jobs (estimated by the NSSO, Ministry

foresee myself working with top tourism companies of my country such as Thomas Cook Ltd (India),
Cox & Kings Ltd, MakeMyTrip, Yatra Online Pvt Ltd, and etcetera on the various designations as
Travel Consultant, Tourism Researcher, Tourism Marketing Manager, Front Office Operation

paid my one-year fee of CAD...... and also deposited a GIC of CAD 10,002 to cover my one year
expenses. Also, my family will provide the next year fees and living expenses through their annual
income of INR 9, 55,480 and savings.

Strong Reason of Returning:

• Family Ties: I share an unbreakable bond with my family, and they are always my first priority . My
mother is an ideal for me because I always found her as a courageous lady who has done great
things in her life. After my father's death, she faced many challenges as a single mother of three
children. I would like to say I am indebted to my mother for all wisdom and comfort she has
provided me to date. She inspires me to study hard in the future and become her sense of pride in
her old age. That bond always gives us strength so I never want to break that bond with my family
and after my studies I will return to them to make that strong bond even stronger in future.

• Economic Circumstances: If I talk about family’s economic circumstances, my family is

economically well-established in my home country as my mother and elder sister are working and
independent with fixed annual incomes. My family has property in the form of residential and
business that worth million, which justifies my definite return to my home after the completion of
my education. Hence, there is no doubt that after returning back to my home country I will have a
prosperous career, and I can live a comfortable and peaceful life with my family.

• Career ties: In FY20, the tourism sector in India accounted for 39 million jobs, which was 8.0% of
the total employment in the country. By 2029, it is expected to account for about 53 million jobs.
With this kind of lucrative opportunities in my own nation after having enough international

prospects.
