Recruitment

critical to running an organization. The process of recruiting employees is to produce or


provide goods and services.
● the right people in the right roles with the right support and opportunities to
succeed as well as a positive work environment.
The recruitment process is
● time consuming
● expensive
=> managers must ensure the methods of recruitment are appropriate and effective.

Methods of Recruitment with regards to the selection process


● Applicants
○ Application form - a standardized document produced by the business for
selecting appropriate job applicants => make candidates answer the same
questions in a consistent format which is easier for employers to compare.
○ Curriculum vitae (CV) - allows employers to see what the candidate has
achieved and to judge whether the experiences and profile of the applicant
meet their requirements.
○ Cover letter - the letter of application allows the HR manager to browse
through potential applications, without having to first read all the CVs or
application forms.
● Interviews - most common method of selecting the right candidate for a position.
○ It is a two- way dialogue between the interviewer and the interviewee -> help
managers to make an informed decision.
○ It provides the chance for employer to meet with the applicant F2F, in person
or via video meeting
○ Employers may ask a host of questions in order to gain insight into the
employee. And also that employee has a chance to get more information
about the job and the organization itself.
● Testing - it is time consuming but increases the chances of hiring the best candidate
for a job.
○ Psychometric test: assess a candidate’s personality and their level of
motivation in order to hire people who will fit into the organizational culture.
○ Aptitude tests: examine one the ability and skills of the applicants
○ Intelligence tests: measure the mental competence of an applicant.
Internal Recruitment
● involves hiring people who already work for the business to fill a vacant post.
External Recruitment
● the process of hiring people from outside the business.
● Methods of Recruitment with regards to job adverts: newspaper advertising,
specialist trade publications, internet advertising, commercial employment agencies,
job centers, university career fairs, and social media platforms (LinkedIn).
