Exercise IV

Projection of Lines

(To be drawn on 11/10/2023)

1. Draw the projections of a line EF, 80mm long, perpendicular to VP and parallel to HP. The end E of the
line is 30mm behind VP and F is in front of VP. The line as a whole is 60mm below HP.

2. A line GH, 85mm long and parallel to VP, has its end G on HP and 30mm in front of VP. The line is
inclined at 30o to HP. Draw its top and front views if the line lies entirely in the first quadrant.

3. Draw the projections of a line JK, 90mm long, parallel to HP and inclined at 45 o to VP. The end J of the
line is 35mm behind VP and the end K is in front of VP. The line as whole is 45mm above HP.

4. Line LM, 95mm long, is parallel to HP and 25mm below it. The line has an inclination of 30o with VP. L
and M are in different quadrants and L, which is furthest from VP, is 35mm in front of it. Draw the
projections.

5. A line QR lies on HP. Q is behind VP by 20 mm and R is in front of VP by 30 mm. The distance

between Q and R measured along x-y is 65 mm. What is the length of the line and its inclination with
VP?

6. Line ST has its end S on VP and 10 mm above HP. End T also is on VP, but 30 below HP. Distance
between the end projectors of S and T is 50 mm. What is the angle that the line makes with HP?
