This pattern provides instructions for making the side and bottom portions of a mochila bag, as well as a matching strap. The side pattern uses 228 stitches repeated twice. The bottom pattern describes increasing the number of stitches in each row from 6 to 228 using single crochets in the back loop only. A diagram shows how to make a matching strap using an inkle loom.

This pattern is written with experienced mochila creators in mind. It’s probably completely incomprehensive if you have not frequented the same mochila groups on social networks as I have.
The side pattern
The pink markers at the top are for where I put my cord holes. The pattern covers 114 stitches. Repeat twice for a normal sized bag with 228 stitches in the sides.
My bag is 19,5 cm In diameter and 26 cm high.
Bottom pattern Bottom pattern in written instructions for 12 stiches increase per row: All stitches are single crochets, in the back loop only and around the carrying threads.
1. Make a magic loop.
2. Make 6 black stitches in the magic loop. Add the carry threads already from the start. A total of 6 stitches. 3. Make one black stitch and then a stitch of alternate color in every stitch. A total of 12 stitches. 4. Make 2 stitches in every stitch, using the same color as the stitch in the previous row. A total of 24 stitches. 5. One stitch in the first stitch, 2 stitches in the next. Use the same color as in the previous row. Repeat throughout the row. A total of 36 stitches. 6. …and until finished. Now the black fields are as broad as we want them (3 stitches). Make all increases in the “not black fields” – 2 increases in every “not black field”. And shift the black fields to the right, so that the third black stitch in a row is in the first black stitch of the previous row. Repeat until you have a 228 stitches row.
