{ Coronation Crown Headband...

Materials

- 2.50 mm crochet hook

- 100 % cotton yarn for a 2.50 mm hook

- Tapestry needle

- Soft stuffing like Polyfiber fill

- A plastic headband
Colors

White

Violet

Yellow

A little bit of black to embroider the dots of the ermine band.

Abbreviations

st = stitch

ch = chain

sc = single crochet

Shall we begin?

Ermine band

Using white…

1. Chain 12 and then slst to the first ch to form a circle. Then crochet 1 sc on each remaining ch stitch
(12)

Remember to stuff as you go…

2. to 48. Crochet 12 sc

Fasten off yarn, leaving a long tail to sew both ends together later.

Base of the Velvet Cap

Using violet…

1. Magic ring of 6 sc
2. Crochet 2 sc in each st (12)

3. Crochet 2 sc in each st (24)

4. Crochet *3 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * (30)

5. Crochet 2 sc, 2 sc in the next st, *4 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * 5 times, 2 sc (36)

6. Crochet *5 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * (42)

7. Crochet 42 sc

Fasten off yarn and weave in ends. Set aside.

Velvet Cap

Using violet…

1. Magic ring of 6 sc

2. Crochet 2 sc in each st (12)

3. Crochet *1 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * (18)

4. Crochet 1 sc, 2 sc in the next st, *2 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * 5 times, 1 sc (24)

5. Crochet *3 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * (30)

6. Crochet 2 sc, 2 sc in the next st, *4 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * 5 times, 2 sc (36)

7. Crochet *5 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * (42)

8. to 14. Crochet 42 sc

Stuff firmly...

15. Change to yellow and take the base you did previously and place it over the opening as if it were a
lid. Now join them together by crocheting 1 sc in each pair of stitches (1 stitch of the cap and 1 stitch of
the base).

Fasten off yarn, leaving a long tail to sew to the ermine band.

Golden band

With the velvet cap facing upwards, join the yellow yarn in one of the front loops of the last round
(round 15) of the cap…
1. Crochet *6 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * (48)

2. and 3. Crochet 48 sc

Fasten off yarn and weave in ends.

Golden Arches

Make two, using yellow…

1. Leaving a long initial yarn tail (you’ll need it for sewing later), chain 41. Starting from the second chain
from hook, crochet 1 sc in each chain stitch (40)

2. Chain 1 and turn. Crochet 40 sc

Fasten off yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Monde

Using yellow…

1. Magic ring of 5 sc

2. Crochet 2 sc in each st (10)

3. Crochet *1 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * (15)

4. to 6. Crochet 15 sc

7. Crochet *1 sc, one decrease*, repeat * (10)

Stuff firmly...

8. Crochet 5 decreases.

Fasten off yarn and closet the last round through the front loops. Leaving the yarn tail for sewing.

Headband

Using violet, make single crochet stitches all along the headband to cover it. Crochet the stitches tightly
and close to each other, so you won’t be able to see the headband under it. Weave in ends. If you like,
you can cover the tips with a bit of grosgrain ribbon.

Assembly
- Sew the ends of the white tube together to form a ring. With a bit of black yarn, embroider tiny dots to
the ermine band.

- Sew the velvet cap to the ermine band, using the remaining yellow yarn tail.

- Cross the golden arches over the velvet cap and sew the ends inside the golden band, so they Will
remain hidden by them.

- Secure the cross where the golden arches meet to the velvet cap with a few stitches.

- Sew the Monde on top of the cross of the arches

- Sew the entire crown to the headband.

- Weave in all ends.
