DISCERPTION: The human city of Tanner is a wonderful river and coastal city. The great northern river runs
on its east side, while the Inner Ocean is to the south. Tanner’s vast piers filled with fishing vessels, grand
galleys and the occasional war ship. Its cobble stone streets are full of shops and smiths of all kinds. One of the
largest known cities, it is a center hub for both sea and land tradesmen. Elves, dwarves, gnomes, halflings, and
humans fill the streets. It is said, “If it is for sale, you can find it in Tanner.”

Just two little problems. Too many dam rats, and a tribe of kobolds have moved into the sewer system under the
city. Flyers and wanted posters are see hanging along lamp posts, offering 1 CP for every rat and 5 CP for every
kobold head.

DM: All equipment, transport, ships, carts, lodging, food, and even poisons listed in the Players Handbook,
Unearthed Arcana, dungeon Masters Guide are available. Magic items should be kept to a minimum.

As the party of player characters gathers, they will be approached by a city guard. He will explain that the city
is wanting to expand the sewer system, but it needs to be cleared of rats, and kobolds first. He will offer 500 GP
to the party of character for the head of the kobold chief and will show the party of characters an entryway to
the sewer system.
START: You are led by the city guard thru a small pub. The occupants watch as you make your way past their
tables. Thru a back door and down a small set of stars to a storage cellar. In the middle of the floor, the guard
opens a hatch. You see a ladder leading down some 20 feet.

1. As you make your way down the 20-foot ladder, you find yourself in a 40 by 40-foot room. The smell of
raw sewer fills your nose. The walls are damp, and there is a gutter running down the middle of the
room, filled with running sewage, out into a hall way. Open pipes come from the walls. The trickle of
water and waist flows into the gutter. You wonder if it is really worth the 500 GP.

11. Unlike the other rooms, were the sewer runs freely. This one seems to be clogged by something. At the
point where the ditch meets the main hall way there is a blockage.

34. Even though it is a sewer, this large room seems to be cleaned. The open ditch which runs along the
passage ways and in the other rooms is covered. A tent is set up on the far side of the room and torches
line the walls giving a strange light to the room. Chest and barrels line the walls. It is clear by the
markings that the kobolds have been stealing from the city above. By the entrance to the tent you see a
strange little figure, dressed in studded leather armor, and a short sword strapped to its side. Next to him
are 2 other strange looking things with wooden shields and daggers. 4 wild boars are within the room
also.
