ESP PUMP CONTROL FEATURES


• Variable displacement axial piston pump for open-circuit applications
• Output flow increases with swashplate angle from 0° to its
maximum value
• Typically used in implement systems where higher operating
pressures are required
• US patented ESP control, ECM controlled
• Internally piloted for pump control
• Available options include:
- Counterclockwise or clockwise rotation
- Through-drive mounting flanges

The pump includes internal case flushing, resulting in higher case
flows than volumetric losses alone would provide. This aids in cooling

Case Drain Pressure


The open-circuit pump case drain line must be connected directly to
the tank. The pressure at the case drain port D1 must not exceed 1.8
bar (26 psi).

ELECTRO-HYDRAULIC CONTROL (ESP)

Description of Operation

The ESP control uses a proportional valve to control the pump


actuator position real time, via a Cat® ECM. The diagram below shows
the open loop relationship between electrical current to the valve
solenoid and pump flow. By varying the current to the valve away
from 1 amp, the swashplate velocity will be varied as the pump moves
to max. or min. flow. The Cat ECM and Cat sensors are required for
proper functionality of the pump.

The receptacle connector is an Ampseal 16 with Key

bi-directional quenching diode.
