Ice Age - Ice Slide

➔ There was one part in the climax where the legato was with the other layers playing
staccato which creates the sense of movement.
➔ Similar to what tara said; brass, percussion (cymbals, xylophone)
➔ Fast tempo, presto, same tempo just not as busy does not change, just removes the
rhythmic layers, less accents.
➔ 2/4
➔ Call and response by lower and higher
➔ Walking bass played by trombone and tuba
➔ Words on the page.
➔ Strong accents

In the piece there was one part in the climax where there were a whole bunch of layers playing
staccato while a separate layer was playing legato, creating a sense of contrast and the feel of
movement. The piece is quite brass dominated, with the tuned percussion also providing the
mainness of the piece.
How to Train Your Dragon - Learning to Fly

➔ Snare creating a crunchy military feel
➔ Descending melodic sequence played by the nasally bagpipes
➔ Glockenspiel reinforcing the descending sequence
➔ Horns provide a separate harmonic line.
➔ Second melody

Ratatouille (again but this time it's the beginning):

In the beginning of the excerpt we are immediately introduced to the double bass, which is
playing in a low register to bring a sense of tension. The flutes begin to play a call and response.
In section B the whistle takes over the melody and the accordian provides harmonic
accompaniment. In the last section the strings take over the melody. The melody in section B is
being whistled in a legato manner

● Lush homophonic section

● Brass thickens the texture
● Back to sleigh bells
● Build up the texture into the choral section
● Brass
● 3/8 with a 3/4 feel
● Woodwinds playing upper register
● Tin whistle
● Legato section
