Subject: Strict Adherence to Academic Integrity and Consequences of Unfair Means in University

Examinations

Dear Students,

We have observed many instances of students of NMIMS adopting unfair means during the University
examinations. We would like to emphasize the gravity of this matter and the severe implications it can
have on your academic journey and future endeavours.

The use of unfair means, such as cheating, plagiarism, or any form of academic dishonesty during
examinations, is a direct violation of the principles of academic integrity. We want to remind all
students that maintaining academic integrity is not only a fundamental value of our Institution but
also a crucial aspect of personal and professional development.

Implications of Adopting Unfair Means:

1. Impact on Results, Grades, GPA, and CGPA:

Any student found guilty of adopting unfair means during examinations will face disciplinary actions.
The consequences may include, but are not limited to, the nullification of the exam concerned or
complete semester/ trimester appearance, not allowing student concerned to appear at any
subsequent examination/ s. This, in turn, adversely affects your GPA and CGPA.
2. Impact on Placements:
Employers value integrity, and instances of academic dishonesty can significantly impact your chances
during job placements. A tarnished academic record may lead to decreased opportunities and a
negative perception from potential employers.

3. Impact on Admission to Overseas Universities:

Academic institutions worldwide prioritize applicants with a strong record of academic honesty.
Instances of adopting unfair means during examinations may result in rejection or withdrawal of
admission offers from overseas universities, hindering your chances of pursuing further education
abroad.
4. Impact on Dean’s List/ Meritorious List:
The involvement of deserving students in unfair activities, due to their negligence, results in their
names being removed from the Dean’s / Meritorious List.

We earnestly advise all students to refrain from using unfair means during University examinations.
Instead, focus on developing effective study habits, time management skills, and seek support from
faculty members or counselling services if you are feeling overwhelmed due to various pressures.

Handling stress and pressure is an essential skill in both academic and professional life. We encourage
you to utilize available resources, such as counselling services, and peer support networks, to cope
with the challenges you may encounter during your academic journey.

Let us collectively uphold the values of academic integrity and ensure a fair, respectful, and enriching
learning environment for all.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
