I. INTRODUCTION:
In this chapter it discusses on how to assess affective domain, which
means that affective domain covers behaviors with regards to attitudes,
beliefs and feelings, network of attitudes, beliefs and feelings form
the students’ values, values are perception or ideas of worth, while beliefs
are perception of fact. It also emphasizes on feelings, emotions and degree
of acceptances and rejections.
Affective learning reaches the emotional and belief system aspects
of those who facilitate and participate in it. As an area of study, affective
learning has been defined both by the types of educational
objectives sought in planning educational experiences, and through
conceptual models portraying the range of impact possible.
It also includes the affective traits where most students
affects involves both emotional and cognitive believe, that was adapted by
McMillan which are first attitude, interest, value, opinions, preference,
motivation, academic self-concept, self-esteem, locus of control, emotional
development, social relationship, altruism, moral development, and
classroom environment

III. LEARNING CONTENT:

What is Affective Assessment?

Affective Assessment refers to the measurement of learners’ feelings, values,
interest, attitudes, motivation, beliefs, etc.
- It gives focus on non-cognitive outcomes of learning rather than measuring
the content knowledge and skills the students have acquired.
- This type of assessment is viewed to be more difficult to measure because
feelings, interests, values, and other affective traits are internal characteristics
and not directly observable.
Whyt is Affective Assessment important?
● Affective assessment is valuable for several reasons:
Internal factors such as feelings, emotions, interest, motivation, etc. affect
students’ learning.
● It provides an opportunity for teachers to better understand his or her
students as human being and not just a thinking person to learn the prescribed
content knowledge and skills.
● It can provide teachers more information about students’ difficulties,
struggles or behavior problems to improve their learning.
● Students’ engagement to affective assessment helps them see through
their own feelings, emotions, interests -- a kind of self-reflection to understand
and improve themselves.

Taxonomy of Affective Domain of Learning

Krathwohl et al. (1964) developed a taxonomy of affective qualities that
can serve as guide in doing affective assessment as summarized in the first
two columns of the following matrix and sample behaviors in each level are
presented.

Impact and Implications
Affective assessment, which focuses on evaluating students' attitudes,
beliefs, emotions, and values, can have several significant impacts and
implications for teachers. Assessing the affective domain allows educators to
understand and address students' feelings, motivations, and interpersonal skills,
contributing to a more comprehensive understanding of the overall learning
process.
Teachers can identify potential barriers to learning, such as anxiety or lack
of motivation, and tailor their instructional approaches accordingly. Affective
assessment can help create a positive and inclusive classroom culture by
addressing students' emotional and social well-being. Teachers can nurture a
supportive environment that promotes emotional intelligence, empathy, and
collaboration.

IV. CONCLUSION
The assessment of affective qualities becomes critical to a complete and
accurate understanding of human behavior. Various methods exist to assist in
its assessment. Some of the more prominent methods were reviewed. The wise
selection and judicial use of affective measures will help ensure information
they provide is reliable, valid, and complement information on other important
personal qualities.
Affective assessment also does tell us teachers about the student's attitudes
about the relevance and importance of the content they are to learn and
about their beliefs concerning their own ability to learn.
