Lesson Plan in Teaching and Assessment Literature Studies

I. Objectives:

At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:


1. Determine the role of Literature Competencies in English K-12 Curriculum;
2. Identify the Filipino and International Authors and their works; and
3. Appreciate the importance of knowing the authors and their works

II. Subject Matter:

III. Preliminary Activities:


● Greetings
○ The teacher will greet the students.
● Prayer
○ The teacher will choose one student to lead the prayer.
● Classroom management

○ The teacher will ask the students to arrange their chairs and pick up the pieces of
trash on the floor.
● Checking of attendance
○ The teacher will give a piece of paper to the class on which the students will write
their names and signatures. This will serve as their attendance for the day.

IV. Instructional Sequence:

A. Activity: “Which is Which?”


● This is a collaborative activity. The teacher will divide the students into two
groups. Group 1 will be given names of the authors while the Group 2 will be
given literary works. The goal is to partner the author with its correct literary
piece. Afterwards, they will guess whether the author is an international or a
Filipino and will paste their answer on the board. Students are given 5 minutes to
finish the activity.
B. Analysis
● The teacher will ask follow up questions to the students.
○ What have you observed during the activity?
○ How did you conclude your answers?
○ Are you familiar with the authors or literary pieces given? If so, who is the
author and its literary piece that is significant to you? Can you share it to
the class?
C. Abstraction
● The teacher will first introduce the Literature Competencies in K-12 Curriculum.
Then the discussion of the Filipino and International authors and their works.
Afterwards, the teacher will discuss the importance of the authors and their works.

D. Application
● In a one whole sheet of paper, answer the following question. The students will be
given 5 minutes to answer. Your answers will be graded according to the criteria
given.

○ As a student in the modern era, do you think it is still important to know
these authors and their works? Why do you think so?

V. Assignment:
● Among the authors discussed, choose one of their works that has captured your attention
and write an insight into your chosen piece. Write answers on a one whole sheet of paper
and submit it on the next meeting. Your answers will be graded according to the criteria
given.
