Introduction
-The cuisine of the United Kingdom is not so unique like the cuisine of Italy, India or Japan.
However it has some typical dishes that are common to find in England. For example…

Fish and Chips


-This is a very typical dish for England. It’s just fish and some potato chips. Fish is a very
common ingredient in English cuisine since the UK is surrounded by water, fishing is a huge
industry in gastronomy.

Shepherds Pie
Is a minced meat pie with mashed potato as the crust. It’s called the Shepherd's pie because
the authentic version of Shepherd's pie is made of lamb meat.

Bangers and Mash


Is a simple English dish which follows the typical outline of English cuisine. Which is some
type of meat and potatoes. Bangers and mash includes sausages, typically pork/lamb/or
beef sausages and mashed potatoes.

Lancashire Hotpot
-It’s a stew consisting of mutton/lamb with onions and of course potatoes cooked in a pot on
low heat. It actually originates from the days of heavy industry in Lancashire when people
needed a cheap and easy to make meal.

-The most special foods of the UK are associated with Christmas meals.
Turkey
-An important part of the Christmas meal for people in the UK is the Christmas turkey as it is
the main course. Turkeys became a popular Christmas meal after Henry VIII brought them to
the UK from the Americas.
-The Christmas turkey is usually served with a side of roasted potatoes, some sort of sauce
(most often cranberry sauce), beans and importantly Brussel sprouts.

Brussels sprouts
-Brussels sprouts are such popular vegetable, though nobody seems to like them. There’s a
reason they’re so popular though. They are the only vegetables to grow in the winter time.
They also contain important minerals which boost the immune system which is especially
important in the winter.

Pigs in Blankets
-Its a side dish of sausages wrapped in bacon.

Yorkshire Pudding
-Another common side dish is the Yorkshire pudding which a baked pudding made from egg,
flour and either milk or water. Though it’s typically eaten with savory meals as a side dish it
can also be eaten as a dessert with sort sort of jam for example.
Mince Pie
-A classic Christmas dish in the UK is the mince pie, which is a sweet pie made from mince
meat, fruits and spices.
