which has given us the opportunity to complete this paper with the title "Tongue
spatula spatula".

This paper was prepared as our effort to explore and understand the role
and function of the tongue spatula. In the process of writing this paper, we tried to
present accurate and up-to-date information, explore reliable sources, and present
it in language that is easy to understand.I would like to thank Mrs. Fitriani
Pratiwi, S.Pd., M.Pd as a lecturer in the English course for her guidance in
preparing this paper.

I realize that this paper is still far from perfection, both in terms of content

INTRODUCTION

1.1 Backround
A tongue spatula, also known as a tongue spatula, is a medical instrument
commonly used in physical examinations to examine a person's mouth and
throat. This tool has a flat, wide tip that allows doctors or medical personnel to
better examine the mouth, teeth, tongue and throat.

Its function includes checking the health of the mouth and throat, such as
checking the structure and color of the tongue, the condition of the gums, and
the condition of the teeth. In the field of dentistry, tongue spatulas help in
examinations and certain procedures, such as taking tissue samples or cleaning
certain areas in the mouth.

The use of tongue spades helps allow better access for certain examinations
and procedures, as well as providing a more efficient way for medical
professionals to perform procedures in the mouth and throat area

DISCUTION

2.1 Definition
A tongue spat is a medical instrument with a flat, wide tip, generally made
of plastic or wood, that is used to examine a person's mouth, teeth, tongue, and
throat during a physical examination or medical procedure. This instrument helps
doctors or medical professionals in better viewing and evaluating the health
conditions inside the patient's mouth and throat.

In general, a tongue spat is a medical tool used to examine the inside of the
mouth, especially the tongue and throat. Here are some definitions of tongue spat
that you may encounter:

• Medical Instruments: A tongue spat is a flat medical instrument, usually

made of plastic or wood, that is used to keep the tongue pulled forward,
making it easier for a doctor to examine the mouth, teeth and throat
• Physical Examination Tools: A tongue tuck is a tool that assists a doctor or
medical professional in examining and evaluating the condition of a
person's mouth, teeth, tongue, and throat during a physical examination
• Tongue Spatula: Another term for a tongue spatula is a tongue spatula,
which refers to its wide, flat tip that makes the inspection process easier
• Oral Health Examination Aids: A tongue spatula is an aid used in oral
health examinations, especially in the field of dentistry and medical
examinations in the mouth and throat area

2.2 Function
Tongue spades have several main functions in the context of medical
examinations, especially in the fields of dentistry and oral examinations. Some of
these functions include.

• Tongue and Throat Examination Facilitator: Tongue spatula assists the

doctor or medical professional in keeping the patient's tongue pulled
forward during the examination. This allows better visualization of the
condition of the mouth, teeth, tongue and throat
• Makes Dental Examination Easier: In the field of dentistry, tongue
spatulas can help better examine teeth and gums as they provide easier
access
• Medical Procedures: Tongue spades may also be used during some
medical procedures, such as throat examination, administering medication,
or taking samples for laboratory tests
• Hygiene and Examination Preparation: Before the examination, a tongue
spat may also be used to clean the mouth or provide necessary hygiene to
ensure the examination goes well.

2.3 How to Use

Using a tongue spat correctly is important to ensure patient safety and comfort.
Here are the steps

• Tongue Tongs: Place the tongue tweezers behind the patient's tongue, just
above the floor of the mouth. The wide tip of the tongue spatula should
follow the curve of the floor of the mouth
• Patient Position: Have the patient sit upright or lie down with the head
slightly raised to facilitate the examination
• Equipment Preparation: Make sure the tongue spatula is clean and sterile
before use. This can be done by cleaning or using a sterile disposable
tongue spat.
• Pulling the Tongue: Gently pull the tongue forward so that the doctor or
medical professional can better examine the tongue, teeth and throat.

• Examination or Procedure: With a tongue spat that pinches the tongue, the
doctor or medical professional can better examine the patient's tongue,
teeth, gums, and throat.
• Handling After Use: When finished, discard the disposable tongue spat or
sterilize the tool used. Be sure to dispose of it in accordance with
applicable medical hygiene regulations.

CONCLUSION

3.1 Conclusion
The conclusion regarding tongue spades is that they have an
important role in facilitating medical examinations and procedures in the
mouth and throat. By using tongue spades carefully, doctors or medical
professionals can facilitate examinations, provide better access, maintain
patient safety and comfort, assist in diagnosis and treatment, support
efficient medical practice. Thus tongue spades are very important in the
examination process medical services in the mouth and throat area that
assist in ensuring accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment for patients.

3.2 Recommendations
Further development regarding tongue spades could be important
because this tool has a vital role in medical examinations of the mouth and
throat area. Several important aspects can be improved through further
development, such as more ergonomic designs, more environmentally
friendly materials, the availability of affordable equipment and more
effective sterilization innovations

Further developments in design, materials, safety, technology and

accessibility will improve the performance and use of tongue spades in
medical practice, ensuring more efficient, safe and comfortable
examinations for patients
