MBChB4 Written Examination

MCQ (Paper 2)
Safe Exam Browser

Safe Exam Browser (SEB) is required for the MBChB4 MCQ papers
undertaken on the MSCAA platform (Exam-Write).

The Medical Schools Council Assessment Alliance (MSCAA) who

provide the Exam-Write platform that you sit your MCQ assessments
on have mandated that assessments using questions from their
bank must now be undertaken on devices locked down with a safe
exam browser. This means that when you log on to sit the exam,
everything else on your device will be temporarily disabled. This will
prevent any potential for using external sources and protects any
leakage of questions.
Safe Exam Browser

There are two steps that you will be required to undertake:

Step 1 - prior to the technical run through:

You must download the safe exam browser application software onto your device.

Step 2 - on the day of your technical run through or on the date of your first and
second diet assessments:
There will be a different configuration file (.seb file) for the technical run through
and for each assessment. These files are available on Moodle - Safe Exam
Browser Section and will only be released on the day of your technical run
through/assessment. This puts your device into examination conditions for the
duration of the assessment - when you log out of the examination package, your
device exits this lock down.
Testing the software

We have set up a short test (10 MCQs) on the Exam-Write platform to

allow you to have a technical run through of the software.

This is called MB4 2024 Technical run through on the Exam-Write

platform.

The technical run through will be open from 3.00pm on Monday 12

February 2024 until 5.00pm on Friday 16 February - you can undertake
the run through any time during this window.

It is compulsory for all students to download and test the Safe Exam
Browser application.
