TASK DESCRIPTION
§ The written assignments are 2500-3000
words (excluding references).
Literature § The assignment must be prepared in
review your own words. Do not copy directly
from other sources.
(30%)
§ You will get 1 point on your work in case of being
decided plagiarism.
§ The assignment should be typed using
font Times New Roman/Arial, size 12
and 1.5 line spacing.
TASK DESCRIPTION
§ The assignment should consist of:
§ Title page: including course name and code, assignment title, due date, word
count (excluding references), student name and ID number
§ Contents page: including table of contents, list of tables, and a list of figures as
appropriate.
§ Introduction to the topic
§ Main body with suitable subheadings to separate sections and main points. All
the headings and subheadings should be numbered, eg 1.0, 1.1, 1.1.1. Main
body is about: Research methods (with defined purposes), steps of production
(include potential pros and cons, comparison between different methods…)
§ Summary/conclusion
§ References

Presentation
§ 9-10: polished, professional, free of errors, clear, well structured,
logical flow, sharp, use of highly relevant tables and/or figures
§ 7-8: generally clear, succinct, minimal errors, sections and points
clearly separated, easy to follow, generally well organised, use of some
relevant tables and/or figures
§ 5-6: has appearance of first draft, multiple errors, some attention to
structure, not easy to follow
§ 3-4: very sloppy, placement of material appears almost random
§ 1-2: unreadable, no apparent organisation

Literature
§ 9-10: comprehensive, evidence of thorough search, numerous
references with most from recent original articles, few texts, referencing
completely correct.
§ 7-8: several references, few texts, many recent original articles, some
minor referencing errors
§ 5-6: small number of references or multiple references but only small
number explored or heavy reliance on a book or review, several referencing
errors
§ 3-4: very few useful references cited, referencing largely incorrect
§ 1-2: no references

§ 9-10: comprehensive, in-depth, focused, excellent
integration
§ 7-8: good coverage of topic, generally well integrated
§ 5-6: fair coverage, some integration

TASK DESCRIPTION
§ Each group (5 members) will have 20-30 mins
to lead the class and deliver the English
materials.
English Class
§ Must include: topic reading (~500 words +/-
Design
10%), outlook to the world (~400 words +/-
(30%)
10%), questions for discussion (5-10
questions), and game (1-3 games or singing).
§ Every member must join and lead the
activities.
§ Have a cross assessment between group
members (take 2 over 10 point).
‘English class’ assessment criteria
§ Content (50%): purpose clearly stated, clarity of
argument, well-prepared, context of word, description.
§ General presentation criteria (30%): such as clarity,
confidence, good presentation skills, good time-
management, sufficient and appropriate visual aids, good
design of scenes.
§ Coherence and fluency in voice (15%): Easy to follow
and understand.
§ Range of academic vocabulary (15%).
Exam: Week 15

§ 9-10: Wide range of vocabulary, professional paraphrasing, free of errors,
clear, well structured, logical flow, sharp, successfully highlight main ideas.
§ 7-8: Generally clear, succinct, minimal errors, easy to follow, good
paraphrasing generally well organised, main ideas are mentioned and stated.
§ 5-6: Has appearance of first draft, multiple errors, some attention to
structure, not easy to follow.
§ 3-4: Very sloppy, placement of material/information appears almost
random.
§ 1-2: Unrelated information or no paraphrasing, no apparent organisation.
