The document discusses the basic concepts of physical fitness including physical activity, exercise, and metabolism. It defines physical activity as bodily movement that leads to energy expenditure, and identifies four domains - occupational, transportation, domestic, and leisure time. Exercise is defined as a planned, structured repetitive activity done to maintain or improve physical fitness. The document outlines three types of exercise - aerobic which improves cardiorespiratory endurance, muscle-strengthening which builds strength, and bone-strengthening which promotes bone growth. Finally, it mentions the three systems of metabolism that are impacted by physical activity and exercise.

-Bodily movements produced by the skeletal muscles
that lead to energy expenditure , all movement including leisure time activities.
Domains of Physical Activity
OCCUPATIONAL- work-related activities
TRANSPORTATION – travelling/ commuting
DOMESTIC – activities done at home
LEISURE TIME – recreational activities
EXERCISE - A subcategory of physical activity
A planned, structured, repetitive bodily movements
that someone engages in for improving / maintaining physical fitness and health.
Different Kinds of Exercises
AEROBIC ACTIVITIES
Cardio or endurance activity that Improves
cardiorespiratory endurance. Aerobic exercise means “with oxygen”. Your breathing and heart rate will increase during aerobic activities. Done for a sustained period of time.
MUSCLE-STRENGTHENING ACTIVITIES
Resistance training. Used to improve muscular strength
and power. The body works against an applied force or weight
BONE-STRENGTHENING ACTIVITIES
Weight-bearing or weight loading activity. Promotes
