February Sapphire
(45th) Grand Jubilee December 2004. Wellattended reunion parties held both in Manila and in Las Vegas.
Year 2005 . . . the most awaited event: our Ruby Jubilee Week (40th anniversary) celebrations.
Grand scale preparations took oneandahalf years to come up with a nostalgic and funfilled week of celebrations
commemorating the 40th graduation anniversary of Class ’65. The following pictorials capsulized the theme essence
of the fiveday festivities “Apat na taong kasama; Apatnapung taong alaala”.
Day 1, Welcome Night February 2. Held at the Skyline Restaurant, World Trade Center on Roxas Boulevard. The
general atmosphere and feeling was simply awesome during the entire night of great jubilations!
Day 2, Manila City Tour February 3. Activities for the day featured visits to Malacanang Palace, Money Museum
of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, lunch at Cabalen Restaurant in Harrison Plaza, a stroll at the Luneta area and the
beautiful and interesting Sights and Sounds show at Fort Santiago.
Day 3, Back to the Classroom February 4. Our “balikTorres” visit was a very memorable day, made especially
nostalgic by the presence of five former teachers whom we honored in a special “Tanging Yaman” tribute. Also an
important part of the visit is our donation of a sewing machine and electric oven and range to the Home Economics
Department.
Day 4, “Pista Sa Nayon” February 5. Outing at Villa Valencia in Pansol, Laguna. A taste of native festivities and
fun, fun, fun with such interesting palaro as the famous “Pabitin”, “Paluan ng Palayok” and “Tugo’War”.
Day 5, Grand Dance & “ReGraduation” Night February 6. Formal dinner dance at the Manila Pavilion Hotel.
The peak point of the night is an emotional “rewind” of our graduation ceremony replayed in reversed order. As the
“Aida” march played on and names are called, class members solemnly took to the stage to receive their class medal.
After the program, the “graduates” immensely enjoyed and danced the night away in the ensuing graduation ball gala.
Years 2006/2007 keeping the Torresian spirit alive here and abroad . . .
Various group activities were vigorously pursued both locally and abroad including active participation in events
sponsored by the THS General Alumni Foundation, thus providing every opportunity for members to bond together
and fill up the long gap years from 1965 to the present.
December 2006 /2007 The traditional annual reunions and Christmas parties are always a muchawaited affairs for
batch mates in Manila and in San Francisco.
2008 the long road to our 2010 Sapphire (45th) Grand Jubilee begins . . .
This year’s 43rd anniversary commemoration served both as a warm up and a dry run for the grand Sapphire (45th)
Jubilee blastoff in 2010.
