Where do Chimpanzees Live?
Chimpanzees can be found in countries such as southern Senegal and
all the way to the west of Uganda and Tanzania. In total, chimpanzees
can be found in 21 countries. The biomes that they are found in are
savanna woodlands, grassland-forest mosaics, and tropical moist
forests.
What is a Chimpanzee's Diet Like?
Chimpanzees are omnivores and have a wide variety of things that they
like to eat such as fruits, nuts, seeds, insects, and sometimes meat. The
animals that they tend to eat are monkeys, duikers, bushbucks, and
pigs.

5 Facts About Chimpanzees
● Chimpanzees can learn sign language
● Since they eat many different things, chimpanzees are able to live
in a variety of habitats
● Chimpanzees are one of four great apes (chimpanzees, bonobos,
gorillas, and orangutans)
● They can communicate with each other using an array of gestures
and facial expressions
● Chimpanzees laugh when they play

Why Are Chimpanzees Endangered?
The three main factors that are affecting chimpanzees are the loss of
habitat due to deforestation, diseases such as ebola and anthrax, and
poaching for their meat.
How Many Chimpanzees Are Left?
It is estimated that there are anywhere from 172,000 to 300,000
chimpanzees still alive.
What is Being Done to Conserve the Chimpanzees
There are many organizations such as the World Wildlife Fund and the
Jane Goodall Institute that are trying to preserve the chimpanzees. The
actions that they are taking to protect them include effective law
enforcement, monitoring populations, conservation of habitats, and
raising awareness.
How can we Help Chimpanzees Survive?
One of the easiest ways that we can help chimpanzees is to raise
awareness ourselves. We can also donate to organizations that are
trying to preserve them. Another way that we can help preserve the
chimps is by expanding our knowledge on them to discover new ways
we can help.
Chimpanzees are our closest living relatives, sharing 98.8% of our DNA
which makes them almost like family to us and is why we have to:

Approaches to Learning
The approaches to learning that apply to this project are thinking skills
because we have to think about what ways we can help protect our
species. We also apply research skills in order to find the correct
information about our species. The last approach to learning that we
use is communication skills as we are explaining how we can protect
our species.
