SYLLABUS

1. Have a general knowledge of the habits food and all that tends to the being of the
following animals.

Horse or donkey cow or buffalo, sheep or goat, cat or dog, Bull or Camel and be
able to recognize any form of cruelty or ill use to which they are subjected.

2. Know in respect of the above animals, usual minor ailments to which they are
liable and what simple remedies may be employed.

3. Have knowledge of car of such birds, insects and reptiles as are generally kept
either as pet or for domestic purposes and have kept a pet in good condition of
comport and health for at least 12 months.

4. Have an elementary knowledge of what to do in cases of accident to animals, of

any laws passed for their protection and of power of police with regard to them.

5. Know address of the nearest ‘Society for the prevention of Cruelty to Animals’
where available. (S.P.C.A) and Blue cross society.

With more and more advancement in science and technology, our

dependence on animals is also increasing. The relationship between human animals
helps to maintain a balance in nature. So we must know the habits, food and all
that tends to the well being of the animals.

COW:

The cows are milk yielders. Cow is a domestic animal. It’s milk is good for
all adults, children and old men. Thick horns emerging laterally and ending inblunt
points. They have emerging laterally and ending inblunet points. They have
intelligent facial expression. Deep dark red in colour. It eats green grass, paddy
straw, Sorghym (nrhsk]) Cowbea leaves, Groundnut leaves, Groundnut cake
((g[z]zhf]F) and Lucern (ntypr]bro.)

HORSE:

Horse is also a domestic animal. They are brown or white in colour. No

horns and humps. Vegetarian habit. Horse is racing animal. Horses are used to
preserve cultural tradition and for ceremonical purposes. The tail hair of horses can
be used for making bows for string instruments such as the violin, Viola, Cello,
and double bass. The horses are used in driving carts.

It eats horse gram ( bfhs]S) and green grass.

SHEEP:

Sheep is also a domestic animal. Vegetarian food habit. It eats green grass,
paddy straw, Sorghum etc. Sheep has two short horns and a small tail. Sheep is an
uncruel animal.

DOG:

Dog is a domestic animal and defense animal using police protection force.
Dog is a omnivorsec (Vegetarian / Non vegetarian animal). Human food. Harm full
animal. Kennel pets are joyful animals.

Contagious disease
1. Antherax

Antherax, a bacterial disease is due to causes sudden death, High

temperature swelling of the neck thorox, flanks and lumbar regions which one
either hot nor painful. Blood discharge from natural opening, they affected
animal dies in 10 to 36 hours.

Vaccination with spore vaccine at the age of 6 months and then annually.
Affected animals are to be separated and the care cases to be buried deep.

POX

Symptoms

Retarted rumination smelling of udder and teats, rise in temperature,

eruptions on skin and udder and teats developing into vesicles puslulers and by
storage leading to mastitives scarbs to loss of milk.

Prevention

Separation of affected animals is important. And necessary treatment. Warm

disinfected solution lining saline, luxtative and treating liosin with mild
antiseptic ointment.

will be called and the doctor submits a report and a necessary action may be taken.

They are lot of laws to protect the animals such as ‘THE ANIMAL WELFARE
ACT’ (A.W.A). From these acts the animals may be protected.
