Beyond Honey

1.- Introduction
Through this monography we want to let know the importance and
influence of the bees in our lives, beyond honey and pollination for
exploring the fascinant of world of the bees, their complex society
and how their presence or absence, it would afect in the biodiversity
and the global foos production.
As well we learn the mystery of this fantastic pollinators, we are
going to discover the critical importance in the sustainability of our
planet and the preservation of the life as we know.
2.- Objetives
2.1.- General Objetives
To show the important of the bees in our lives, how necessary they
are, the influence that have in the economy, medicine, biodiversity
and save food.

2.2.- Specific Objetives

● To raise awareness the care and conservation of the bees.
● To analyze the importance of the pollination.
● To explore the production of honey and its derivatives.
● To expone the cause and consequences of their possible extinction.
●To know the economy impacts that cause the bees.

3.- Rational
Fully aware of the great importance of the bees, we decided to talk
about the major pollinators because it's a topic and information that
has global relevance.
The bee's population is decreasing considerably this years, so we
think that the lack of knowledge about the importance of the bees
and the dangers we would have if they dissappear make that there
are any efforts of conservation.
Our main objective is to have a positive impact individually.
4.- Theorical Framework
Bees are one of the world’s most important pollinators for food crops
each day we rely on bees and other pollinators. In fact, out of every
three bites we consume relies on pollination. Yet bee populations
continue to decline due to the rampant use of pesticides and other
environmental factors like climate change. We cannot stress how
important bees aren't only to people, but to the overall environment.

4.1.- The pollination and hive products

When bees search for nectar and pollen to feed, they land on flowers
and collect the pollen with their bodies. As they move from flower to
flower, pollen is transferred to the female parts of the flower, where
it fertilizes the ovule and allows seeds to form.
Importance
Pollination is essential for flowering plants to produce any type of
seed and fruit. The exchange of pollen between flowers has the
objective of reproduction, it is a fundamental process for maintaining
life on earth.
What consequences would it bring us if there is no more
pollination?
As a consequence, the disappearance of bees can prevent or
drastically reduce the reproduction of many plant species, which can
result in the loss of biodiversity and an imbalance in ecosystems.
Pollination products
Pollination directly affects the quantity and quality of fruits produced
such as apples, strawberries, avocados, kiwis, citrus fruits (oranges,
tangerines, grapefruits and lemons), plums, peaches and apricots.
4.2.- Bee’s honey: nature’s magical elixir
Honey is a sweet liquid that bees produce using nectar from flowers.
Not all bees produce honey, but it is one of the main reasons people
value them. The substance is a natural sweetener with many
potential health qualities.
People have used bees and bee-related products for medicinal
purposes for thousands of years. ResearchersTrusted Source have
noted claims that it has antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory,
and anticancer properties.
In traditional medicine, people use honey when treating a wide
variety of conditions. While many of these uses don't have scientific
backing, they include:
• Eye diseases
• Bronchial asthma
• Throat infections
• Tuberculosis
• Thirst
• Hiccups
• Fatigue
• Dizziness
• Hepatitis
• Constipation
• Worm infestation
• Hemorrhoids
• Eczema
• Ulcers
• Wounds
4.3.- Bees in the economy and the employment
This is where beekeeping comes in, the production and sale of honey
contributes economically to both local companies and beekeepers
who sell honey to national and international markets.
Also the products from the hive, the sale of these generate
employment and income for people
Bees are pollinators of wild agricultural crops. 70% of food crops
depend on pollination by insects, mainly bees, which increases the
production of fruits, vegetables and nuts. This generates employment
in agriculture and agribusiness
how research and development of beekeeping and bee ecology also
receives public and private financing and this generates employment
in the scientific field.
4.4.- Endangered bees
We know that bee is the most important insect in the world, but
throughout the years, we have seen the reduction of the whole
world. So we want to make know the importance of bees, specially
the causes and consequences of their possible extinction.
These are some causes and consequences of their extinction:
Causes
- Insecticides and other chemicals.
- Parasites such as those belonging to the genus Varroa, or fungi
such as Nosema ceranae, among others.
- Pollution and presence of electromagnetic fields.
- Climate change.
- Presence of invasive species.
Consequences
- Without ecological balance.
- Biodiversity los.
- Loss of agricultural profit.
- The bee’s extinction would threaten food security.
- Economic and employment crisis.
- Human extinction.
5.- Conclusions
In conclusion we can note that in this monography we highlight the
importance of one of the most important insects for society, and this
goes beyond of the honey production or pollination, we make known
what would happen if at some point these pollinators arrive to
dissapear.
The importance and balance that bees give to our lives and the
planet were made known. We have seen how these tireless
pollinators, beyond honey, are responsible for our health, economy
and life on the planet.
We have also made known the harsh reality that these small insects
face around the world
but there is still hope, more and more people are raising awareness
about the importance of bees and more and more people are
interested, there are more organizations interested and helping
these animals, with a small effort we can make a difference.
Finally we focus on showing the importance of the major pollinators
that exist, so that people become aware of the great damage we are
causing by killing them.
6.- Recommendations
• We recommend taking care of our environment to prevent global
warming and thus not harm the bees.
• In addition to expanding this information on the importance of
bees in pollination and food production.
• Promotes environmental education in schools and communities.
• We also recommend the consumption of organic foods that are
friendly to bees.
• We can plant flowers that attract bees and avoid the use of
pesticides.
• We can also buy local honey and support local producers who take
care of bees.
