The Importance of Bees

By Somayeh
Introduction
•The role of bees in plant reproduction is they
carry pollen from one flower of the plant to
another. This then causes pollen to fertilize the
plant allowing it to grow. Without bees, and the
process of pollination, the environment would
have no hope because plants would not be able to
grow or reproduce.
Environment:
•Bees are very important to the environment; they pollinate
flowers which once are pollinated, they grow into seeds and
fruits. The video shows us that once pollen is transferred
from the flower of a plant to the stigma of another, it is taken
down the pollen tube in the style where it is then found in the
ovary and into the ovule. This is where the male pollen and
the female are joined together to finally create the seed.
Eventually the seed grows into a fruit and the process is
repeated to create more fruits. Bees are also very relevant to
our environment because they support growth of flowers,
trees, and other plants. In the environment fruit and seeds are
distributed and therefore herbivores and omnivores are
provided with food which then means the ecosystem can
support a high level of biodiversity.

Society:

•The society relies on bees as they are the world's

pollinators of food crops on which humans eat
one third of the day. With fewer bees, society will
have nothing to depend on, they are very
important to society, this is because of numerous
reasons. One could be producing fruit for us, fruit
and plants are very important to nearly all
species, Humans especially. They are very
healthy because they have natural sugar that
won’t affect our health. Another reason is that
bees help plants grow, without plants being able
to grow, they will eventually die and us humans
will have no oxygen to breath in which will then
result in death. Plants produce oxygen by using
Photosynthesis (6CO2 + 6H2O → C6H12O6 + 6O)
and the sun's energy for oxygen to be released
into the atmosphere.
Economy:
Because bees produce honey, it is used in over
40,ooo stores for medicine, food and so on. Bees
can provide pollination services to basically any
crop, without bees, the prices of fruits such as
watermelon, blueberries, squash and others would
be increased in the market due to the very few of
them left. Between $324 and $796 billion worth of
food each year relies on pollination served by
honeybees. This creates a big impact on the
economy. Honey is much beyond a product of
pollination, this nectar is served as food, skin
creams, anti-aging lotions, and medicinal products
that are sold in the markets. In Australia, between
25,000 and 30,000 tons of honey is produced
annually. To conclude this paragraph, honeybees
are pollinators that create a huge impact on the
economy.
Conclusion:

•Therefore, bees create a huge impact on the

environment, society and economy. They support
growth of plants which is very important to the
environment creating a higher level of
biodiversity. They help the society by supporting
the growth of plants so that they can eventually
be digested making us healthier human beings.
And last but not least, they engage the economy
by helping markets succeed with their products
being sold. Bees aren't just any ordinary insects,
they do all these things that support the lives of
numerous species. It's therefore important that we
protect bee populations so that our world stays
healthy for the next generations.
