Eco-Campaign Activity

Choose one strategic objective (protection Bee protection campaign

of natural resources, wildlife, recycling,
food consumption, etc.) Title of the campaign: Save the bees
Objective of the eco-campaign: To warn
the world how important bees are because
bees are essential for the pollination of
plant species. One third of the food we eat
depends on pollination. However, there are
more than 300 products that are
dangerous for bees, and the risk of their
extinction has raised alarms among the
scientific and environmental communities.
Thanks to the thousands of signatures
collected by Greenpeace, 4 of these
dangerous products have already been
banned in Europe. The current campaign
calls for a ban on pesticides and the
establishment of proactive actions for the
protection of bees and other pollinators.

Ask a question to raise awareness on the  What precautions can be taken to

issue (mention data, if possible) protect bees?
 What is the importance of bees to
the world?
 What is pollination?
 Why is pollination important?
 Why are bees important to food
and agriculture?
 Why does the pesticide affect bees?
 What is the relationship between
bees and food and, at a global level,
what is their importance?
DATA
 Bee populations have declined
worldwide in recent decades due to
habitat loss, intensive agricultural
practices, changing weather
patterns and the overuse of
agrochemicals such as pesticides.
This, in turn, poses a threat to a
variety of plants critical to human
well-being and livelihoods.
 As the landmark 2019 report of the
Intergovernmental Science-Policy
Platform on Biodiversity and
Ecosystem Services (IPBES) notes,
"sacred texts about bees in all the
world's major religions highlight
their importance to human
societies over the millennia
 Pollinators contribute directly to
food security. According to bee
experts at the Food and Agriculture
Organization of the United Nations
(FAO), one-third of the world's food
production depends on bees.
 Beekeeping is also an important
source of income for many rural
livelihoods. According to IPBES, the
western bee is the world's most
widespread pollinator, and more
than 80 million hives produce about
1.6 million tons of honey per year.

Mention implemented actions that have Activities and actions for the care of bees
already been implemented with positive
results.  Insecticide ban
 Reduction of pesticides
 - Increasing crop diversity
Dissemination of information
 Social networks
 Voice to voice
 Banners

Mention actions that haven’t been Call to action to care for bees
implemented yet and call to action.
 Dear community, the care of the
bees depends on every family in the
world, from a small action that we
do in the garden of our homes
serves us to take care of this
fantastic species and between all of
us we will get to take care of them,
we are in time to begin to take care
of this species so important for us
and the world.
 More gardens and fewer lawns, A
bright green, neatly mowed lawn is
the idyllic image of a manicured
garden, but it is the opposite of
what bees need, for whom a
homogeneous green expanse is the
equivalent of a desert. If possible, a
diverse garden with pollen-
generating plants is much more
nutritious for bees, which feed on
that pollen. So, if for aesthetic or
pragmatic reasons you cover large
areas of lawn, try to have other
areas nearby where diverse and, if
possible, flowering plants grow.
 Often plants and insects evolve in
parallel to specialize and survive at
the same time. Choosing native
flowering plants is a good way to
preserve local flora and also feed
local bees and other pollinators,
which are often threatened by
other invasive insect species. Doing
so will increase pollination
efficiency and thus improve the
survival prospects of local species,
both plants and insects.
 Beware of pesticides, to eliminate
aphids and other pests, pesticides
are often used without control and
without care. Plant protection
compounds are an essential part of
effective agriculture, but when
caring for a park or garden it is
important to consider the impact
that their use will have not only on
the species or pest to be
eliminated, but on all the others
that make up its ecosystem. Some
studies, including a report by the
European Food Safety Agency, have
confirmed that certain types of
pesticides pose a risk to bees.
Sometimes it only takes one bee to
become contaminated for it to
travel back to its colony and end up
poisoning all the others.

Write a slogan for your campaign. Whoever keeps bees will never be without
a dessert on the table.
