Course Description

To begin an education in Automotive Management accompanied with technical knowledge


this is the first basic course to enable the students to understand the evolution of Automobile
industry and basic vehicles components. Through the classes of basics of Automobiles, students
take a general look into the major auto systems, which include cooling, engine, steering and
suspension, transmission, electrical and braking systems. Student would have acquired relevant
appropriate and adequate technical and managerial knowledge together with the professional
skills and competencies in automotive sector.

CO3 Examine various trends and technological advancements in Automobile Industry. K4

CO4 Analyzing how the steering, wheels, tires and brakes work in an automobile and
how to take care of them. (K5)

CO5 The student would be able to analyze the accurate source of energy to be used for the
automobile. (K5)

History of Cars and Automobile industry in India, Arrival of Automobiles in India, Manufacturing
of Automobiles in India, Indian two-wheeler industry, Power sources, Steam-powered wheeled
vehicles, 17th and 18th centuries, 19th and 20th centuries, 21st century Electric Automobiles

EMERGENCE OF VARIOUS AUTOMOBILE COMPANIES IN INDIA Emergence of various


automobile companies in India, history, organizational structure, growth and challenges of
Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, Tata Motors, Mahindra and Mahindra, General Motors India Ltd, Hero
Motors Corp Ltd. Rivalry among various Automobile companies.

TRANSFORMING THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY


Emerging trends in Automobile industry, technology transformation in Automobiles,
Automobile Industry regulation laws in India, Accident laws, New car registration process, steps
of availing Automobile dealership.

VEHICLE STRUCTURE AND ENGINES Types of automobiles - Vehicle Construction -


Chassis - Frame and Body -Aerodynamics. Components of Engine Their Forms, Functions And
Materials - Review Of Cooling And Lubrication Systems In Engine - Turbo Chargers - Engine
Emission Control By 3-Way Catalytic Convertor - Electronic Engine Management System.
