You’ve been selected to participate in a digital audition and interview for a position with

Carnival Entertainment. Please read the following instructions carefully to ensure the best results for your submission.

✓ Strong skills that emphasize your knowledge and experience with commercial music and techniques found in
modern pop and rock repertoire.

✓ The ability to replicate and cleanly perform all original grooves in the most musical manner.

✓ The ability to extend beyond a performer into an entertainer.

1. “Jessie’s Girl” / With Recording


• Play the entire song. Count-in is to the top of the song. Learn and memorize “Jessie’s Girl” by Rick
Springfield from the original recording; a chart is provided to aid in learning the song. Play along with the
guitar-less track provided. Your objective is to demonstrate a convincing knowledge of the song and
showcase your personality – showmanship counts!
2. Unaccompanied rock solo
• Play a 60 second unaccompanied rock solo, showing your knowledge of an energetic rock performance.
Don’t be afraid to show off your favorite rock licks and tricks (finger tapping a plus!). Showmanship
counts!
3. “I Wish” / With Recording
• Play from the beginning to Letter F. Count-in is to the top of the chart.
4. “How Insensitive” / With Recording
• Play 2 times through the form. Play the melody and comp for yourself the first time through the form;
improvise over the second chorus.
5. “Kiss” / With Recording
• Play the entire song. Count-in is to the top. Demonstrate your funk comping using a wah pedal, and take
a solo at 70.
6. “Smells Like Teen Spirit”
• Play the intro riff from “Smells Like Teen Spirit” by Nirvana, unaccompanied. There is no chart
provided for this, so please learn this from the original recording.
7. “Heavy Metal Backing Track” Solo / With Recording
• Play entire song. Solo along with the MP3 “07 Heavy Metal Backing Track.mp3”. There is no chart for
this. Go for it and show us your showmanship and rock improvisational abilities!
1. Prepare your videos and be ready to share the “non-private” links to the videos!
2. If you have already created an account with HireVue then log back into your account to resume your audition. If
you have not already created a HireVue account then visit the HireVue OpenVue setup page to begin your
audition.
3. Continue your HireVue digital audition and when prompted copy the links to your YouTube audition videos into
response for the corresponding question within HireVue.

Please allow 2-4 weeks for a final response once your HireVue digital audition and interview are submitted. Note that
