King’s InterHigh - Accessing Your Cycle Tests

Students will receive an email from ProctorExam (exams@proctorexam.com) - the subject

line will be ‘Please register for your exam’.
The email will contain three steps that must be followed and completed.

Step 1 - Download the ProctorExam chrome plugin

Students should click the first link in the email. This will take them to the Chrome web
store*, which should open on the ‘Extensions’ tab, where they will see the following:

Next the student should click on the ‘Add

to Chrome’ button, which will open a pop-
up window (see image to the right).

They should click on ‘Add extension’ -

which should add ‘ProctorExam Screen
Sharing’ to their Chrome Extensions.

Students can view all their Extensions in Chrome by clicking on the three dots in the top
right-hand corner of their browser, clicking on ‘Extensions,’ followed by ‘Manage
Extensions’ - this will open the Extensions screen, and they will be able to confirm that
‘ProctorExam Screen Sharing’ was added correctly.
*NB: If clicking on the link does not take them to the Chrome web store, the student should
right click on the link, which will open a pop-up window (as below), and then click on ’Open
link in new tab’ which should open the web store.

STEP 2: Complete the System Check [48 hours in advance]

Students should next click on the second link; a new tab will open, and they should see the
following message on their screen (please note it will include the proper examination
subject and number). Click on ‘Start Check’ to continue.
Next the ‘Allow notifications’ screen will appear, with a pop-up window in the top left-hand
side of the screen – click on ‘Allow.’

The following screen will appear – click on ‘Next’:

Next the ‘Enable screen sharing’ screen will appear – click on ‘Enable’.
The next screen will ask the student to ‘Choose what to share with
pearson.proctorexam.com.’ There will be three options to choose from. They should select
the ‘Entire screen’ tab and click on the screen shown so that it has a blue line around it (see
example below) – then click on ‘Share.’

The student will return to the ‘Enable screen sharing’ screen and see the message ‘Screen
sharing is enabled’ highlighted in green – click on ‘Next.’
The next stage is to enable their microphone to allow ProctorExam to use it – in the ‘Enable
your microphone’ screen there will be another pop-up window – click on ‘Allow.’
Next the student will be asked to say something into their microphone, after which they will
see the message ‘Your microphone is working’ highlighted in green. Click on ‘Next.’
The next step is confirming that their speakers are working – if they can hear music playing,
they should click ‘Yes’ and the message ‘Your speaker is working’ will appear. If they cannot
click on ‘Need help?’ and follow the instructions.
Click on ‘Next’ and the ‘Test your camera’ screen will open with another pop-up; student
should click on ‘Allow.’ The student next must confirm that their camera is working – if it is
they should click on ‘Okay.’ If not, they should click on ‘Need Help?’
After clicking ‘Okay’ the ‘Test your camera’ screen will re-appear with a confirmation
message highlighted in green. Click on ‘Next.’
The next stage is ‘Download the ProctorExam app’ - the student will need to scan the QR
code shown on screen (unless they have already downloaded the App) and download the
App onto their mobile device as it will be needed to capture additional video throughout
their exam for proctoring purposes.

Once the student has the App on their

mobile device, they will need to use it to
scan another barcode to confirm that their
camera is working and sending video
properly.
If it is they should click on ‘Okay.’ If it is not
working, they should click on ‘Phone
camera not working’ and follow the
guidance.
Click on ‘Next’

The ProctorExam system will now automatically run a system ‘Connection Check’ to ensure
your internet connection is stable. If it is OK, you will see the following, and should click
‘Next.’
Once all checks have been completed the student will see the following screen and may
close the page.

STEP 3: Once you finish the System Check you will receive an invitation to your exam.
After Steps 1 and 2 have been successfully completed an email will be sent to the student
with the subject ‘You are now ready to take your exam’. This will contain instructions for
joining their exam. Please follow the instructions onscreen to start your exam.
