accuracy of the source is dubious due to it’s use as a propaganda poster, the source does present the
theory that America’s inexperience with guerrilla warfare was the main reason for the failure of
American forces in Vietnam. Our customer service team will review your report and will be in touch.

American people was to further gain the trust of the American people and promote the American
cause in Vietnam as something the USA was doing for the good of the Vietnamese people. But even
together these sources are limited they still don’t mention all the reason America joined the war and
if Johnson is still talking to someone who he can't say what he really thinks then they do not really
back each other up at all. It is worth noting that Day was speaking to members of the armed forces at
a seminar for the Royal United Service Institution, meaning that his remarks would have been
carefully chosen to avoid any possible offence his comments may have caused. Source B is the most

from Johnson to why the USA entered Vietnam. Mostly note taking, content based and some exam

“would be renewed in one country and then another.” This makes large reference to the vast amount
of countries becoming communist in Asia, also known as the domino theory. SEATO was originally
part of the Truman Doctrine, which aimed to promote the containment of communism. It was also
from President Johnson but it was a private conversation. It misses out again that the Americans and
Diem never had fair elections and fails to mention that nobody liked Diem and the strong north. See

this source is really not all that useful as it does not give many facts or fit with the knowledge that I

limited is that President Johnson does not mention how the USA cancelled the 1956 scheduled
elections in Vietnam. For example, when Johnson says “We fight in Vietnam because we have a
promise to keep”, he is actually talking about the Truman Doctrine and containment. It is useful
because it does actually tell you many reasons why America joined the war, although not directly.
