letter:
1. Create a header
Create a header, including your contact information, on the top of your cover letter. For job
applications, submit a cover letter with your full name, phone number and email address.
Consider also providing the area in which you live, but a postal address isn't necessary.
Sharing your contact information is important so that the recruiter can contact you for an
interview.
2. Open with a greeting
Begin your cover letter by addressing it to the recruiter or company executive who reviews
job applications. You may find this information on the company site or you could call the
company and ask for the name of the recruiter. Using their name can make your application
more personal, but if you cannot find a name of whom to address the cover letter to, address it
to 'hiring manager'. A professional salutation like 'Dear' is appropriate for cover letters.

In the first paragraph of the letter, introduce yourself and state the position to which you are
applying. Express why you have an interest in working for this company as a mechanical
engineer. Mentioning characteristics of their organisation that you admire shows genuine
interests and informs the employer that you put in the effort to research and learn about their
company.
After explaining why you want the position, write a brief highlight of your skills and
experience that help you qualify. You can summarise your CV here and give more details
about your work experience in the following paragraph.
4. Share a story about your work experience
In the second body paragraph of the cover letter, talk about your professional experience that
demonstrates your qualifications for this role. An anecdote from prior work experience can
provide a context for your aptitude and experience in performing mechanical engineering job
duties. You can also highlight your personality to set yourself apart from other candidates.
Think of personality traits that suit you for the position. For example, mechanical en gineers
often work with other engineers and technicians, so it could be useful to include that you are
very collaborative.
5. Leave a good impression
In the closing paragraph, reiterate your qualifications for the job position. It's important to
close your letter respectfully in order to make a good impression on the recruiter. Be sure to
thank them for their time spent reviewing your application and restate your interest in the
position.
