Dear Lovie,
Congratulations! In recognition of your significant academic achievements, I am pleased to share that you
have been selected for the University of North Carolina Asheville’s University Merit Award scholarship.
The Office of Admission and Financial Aid is confident in your exceptional ability to contribute to our
academic community through scholarship, leadership, and citizenship. To support your success, you will
receive $10,000 per academic year (a maximum total of $40,000 over four years).

At UNC Asheville, your education will further develop your aptitude for critical thinking, clear and
thoughtful expression, and research-based habits of mind. Your experiences on our campus will prepare
you for the best graduate and professional schools, fellowships, and careers that will ultimately help you
and your classmates provide real-world solutions to the most pressing issues of our time.

Additional financial resources may be available to you, including federal, state, and institutional funding.
Beginning this December, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at fafsa.gov
to determine your eligibility and maximize your total financial aid award. Be sure to include UNC
Asheville's Federal School Code of 002907.

To maintain University Merit Award, recipients must enroll in the fall semester as first-time first-
year students, with a minimum 12 credits per semester for full-time status. Recipients must also
remain in good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of 2.5. Please call the Office of
Admission and Financial Aid at 828.251.6481 if you have any questions. Our counselors are
happy to provide assistance as you make plans to enroll.

Congratulations, again, on your admission to UNC Asheville and on receiving University Merit
Award. We are thrilled to welcome you to campus this fall!

Asheville awaits,

Marcio Moreno
Associate Vice Chancellor for Admission and Financial Aid

Please note: the total sum of all scholarships and grants awarded cannot exceed the total Cost of
Attendance at UNC Asheville. Also note, the award amount above is final unless your residency status
changes.
