REGULATIONS

21. Moderation of Results of Inter (10+2) Examination :

A candidate for the Intermediate Examination in Arts, Science or Commerece who has appeared in all the
subjects offered by him and has passed in the aggregate but has failed as categorized below should be given
the minimum number of marks necessary to enable him to pass:

i. In one subject or (group of subjects) only by not more than 5% of the total marks in each subject.
ii. In two subjects or (group of subjects) by not more than 3% of the total marks in each subject.
iii. Candidates who have not availed of the clauses (i) or (ii) above and miss a higher division by not more
than five marks shall be given the minimum marks necessary for securing the higher division and their
results shall be determined accordingly.

Provided that in such a case his position in the higher division shall be determined on the basis of the
original marks secured by him.

Note : In a subject or group of subjects where separate passing is necessary in part of it, the shortage shall be
calculated on the basis of the full marks in that part. Failure in different parts of a subject shall be deemed to be
failure in one subject only.

22. Division and Distinction :

i. (a) A candidate who obtains at least 60% of the aggregate marks in the examination shall be placed in
the first division.

(b) A candidate who obtains less than 60% but not less than 45% of the aggregate marks in the
examination shall be placed in the second division.

(c) The remaining successful candidates shall be placed in the third division.

ii. A successful candidate obtaining 75% in any subject shall be declared to have passed with
distinction in that subject.
iii. If a candidate has obtained high proficiency marks 75% in the aggregate but has failed in one
subject only by not more than 7% of marks prescribed in that subject and who cannot be allowed to
pass under any other provision of this Regulation he may be declared to have passed the examination
by making up the deficieny in that subject and equal number of marks may be deducted from the
aggregate and he may be placed in proper division.

23. (i) The pass marks in each subject of Intermediate/+2 Examination shall be 33%. He must obtain 33%
marks in theory and 33% marks in practical separately.
(ii) In Music the theory portion is of 25 marks and the pass marks are 8 and in the practical of 75 marks
the pass marks are 25. A candidate must pass in Theory and Practical examinations separately.

N.B. : In no case double benefit of regulation shall be allowed.
