HOW TO USE GAMES EFFECTIVELY BY EFL TEACHERS:

A researcher suggested several rules in order to incorporate games in the classroom

effectively by the teachers .They should:

1 set a time to ensure equal opportunity for all participants. If every team will not

have chance to participate at the end of the class avoid starting another round.Determine

whether the first response will be considered valid or not because students sometimes

correct themselves after giving the wrong answer.

2 The teacher should assign students to teams. The grouping may

depend on many things but it should ultimately depend on the

task the students will be completing. Having fair teams depends

on knowing the students’ abilities and personalities fairly well.

Obviously, the latter option does not usually promote much

discourse about the language or learning in general. Other

students will try to pair up with the know-it-all and be carried

through the game.

3 identify learning objectives and the goals of the game.

4 teachers goes carefully and slowly .During the explanation of gaming

process .Ensuring that all individuals are attentive and understanding .Ask them repeat

it if needed.(kostikova,2017,p.181-182).

5 It is important to take the games level difficulty into account. A game may be too

challenging for the learners .If it is uninteresting or too simple to play. Therefor, teachers must
determine the games difficulty aligns with the language proficiency of the students.

( YOLAGELDİLİ & ARIKAN,2011,p.222).

Teachers who use games in EFL classrooms in order to be successful in their work must follow

these rules and procedures.
